With more than 37 million people living with Diabetes today, we know first hand how important early intervention and specialized care can be in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and related wounds. The staff at the Wound Healing Center supported Diabetes Awareness month by wearing their Diabetes Awareness T-shirts and provided educational activities for the patients.

For the month of November, the Wound Healing Center participated in Give Thanks; Give Back Campaign. The staff and patients participated in a can food drive benefitting the Brown Bag Project in Wood County. The canned goods were placed under the team that they think will win in the game between OSU and Michigan. Sorry Michigan fans. It looks like the team that won for the canned food drive is OSU.

Offloading and Total Contact Casting is a treatment we offer for non-infected diabetic foot ulcers. This advance modality takes the weight off the foot , reduces pressure on the wound, and increases the probability and speed of healing. The staff at the Wound Healing Center participated in the Master Caster Program last week. The nurses spent the morning caring for their patient while wearing the cast. This was a way for them to understand and experience what we ask of our patients.
