Recently, two of our Emergency Department nurses, Hannah and Kara, helped deliver a baby moments after bringing the patient from the ER parking lot to the OB department. While assessing the patient out in their car, it quickly became clear that delivery was imminent. Working with OB nurses, they welcomed the new baby right after the patient reached the bed.

The entire experience happened so fast that when Hannah and Kara returned to the ED, their coworkers could hardly believe they had just helped deliver a baby.

In recognition of their swift action and teamwork, both nurses were recognized with a stork pin. 👶 👏

𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟰: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝘁 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿
The term prebiotic is one you’ve probably heard or have seen on food labels, but what you might not know is that it’s not just one thing.

Prebiotics include a range of substances that feed the healthy bacteria in your gut.

Some plant compounds, such as polyphenols, function as prebiotics. For example, ellagitannin (found in raspberries and walnuts) is currently being studied for its gut health benefits.

It’s important to remember that variety matters. Eating a wide range of plant-based foods helps support a diverse, healthy gut microbiome.

👉 Aim for about 30 grams of fiber each day and try to include 30 different plant foods each week.
