Growing up I always knew that I wanted to help people. I went to college wanting to be a psychologist. I graduated with three associates degrees (focusing on psychology, sociology & general education) and decided NOT to go further with it. It may sound silly to some, but I'm the type of person who has always cared TOO much. I knew I'd take my work home with me and it would eat me alive if I couldn't help someone. I wasn't sure where to go from there. Psychology was the only thing that ever truly interested me, other than being a Veterinary, but again, same issue. If you know me at all, you know I wouldn't be able to handle putting an animal down. I needed a happy medium. I'm not sure where the idea came from, but I had thought about starting a massage program in Michigan. Time passed, and I just never pursued it.
After moving to Kentucky I discovered that there was a massage school here in Bowling Green. At the time I got some information about The Natural Health Institute. I was unsure if I was going to stay in this area so I was hesitant to start anything. I held onto the information and it was always in the back of my mind. After two years of not going anywhere, I decided that it was time to finally just DO IT! I enrolled at Genesis Career College (the name changed shortly after I started) and graduated with a 4.0!
Life always manages to throw curve balls in my plans, but 7 years later, I am still massaging! When I was off work, I miss it dearly. It's my way of helping people without having to worry about the things I would have with my original career plans.
I worked at Clark Family Chiropractic for 4 years, and at Salon Panache + Spa for 4 years (2 years doing both). I will forever be thankful for the experiences of both places. I learned so much and met so many amazing people (coworkers, clients, and friends) along the way.
