Hi all, I found this video useful and reassuring. It comes from a seemingly sincere expert without an agenda. It is long, so I’ve summarized the points I found important below...which are many. Watch it for yourself if you have the time.

The virus is spread from hand to face contact over long exposure.
Hand to mouth.
Hand to nose.
Hand to eyes.
The recent encouragement for homemade mask wear is to prevent us crazy humans from touching our faces! Don’t think you do? I dare you to set a timer for 1 hour and pay attention to how many times in said hour you have the urge, it’s harder than you think!
Long exposure means 15-30 min in a close quartered environment without protection, ie contact with a potentially infected person, touching said person, then touching your face without first washing your hands.
The virus is much less likely transmitted through the air, thus the 3-6 foot rule. Most aerosol particles dissipate within this radius. If it can’t reach you, it can’t get into your eyes, mouth, or nose. It does not transmit through eye contact, waving, simple touch, etc.
You can hug someone, just don’t cough on them or be coughed on, then wash your hands after because it is inevitable that you will touch your face :)
The virus is a wimp. It dies easily with disinfection! The reports of it living for hours/days on surfaces were done in a controlled lab with high amounts of the virus. Controlled labs do not equate real life. I repeat. Controlled labs DO NOT equate real life.
Hand sanitizer works equivalent to soap and water. Make sure it’s potent enough to get the job done though.
The reason it’s a big deal is because the human race hasn’t encountered this virus before. It is sweeping the world and will likely resurface annually like all viruses. But it will decrease in potency and act more like a common cold over time.
You DO build immunity after exposure. Antibody formation in the Chinese population affected shows this in exceedingly high numbers. This helps us fight it in the future.
It affects all ages except 0-14. Any person over the age 14 can and will get sick if exposed. Symptom severity ranges from very mild to more severe. There isn’t yet understanding as to why some get it worse than others. Co-morbidities play a role, but aren’t conclusive.
MOST PEOPLE HAVE MILD SYMPTOMS AND NEARLY ALL RECOVER WITHIN 7-14 DAYS.
The only reason to go to the hospital is if you have shortness of breath. Otherwise, follow the quarantine guidelines if you have tested positive or have suspicious symptoms, ie, fever, cough, body aches, etc.
The reality is that we will be in this new ‘normal’ for 3-6-9 months to even a full year +. The predictions are that it will take this long to work it’s way through the population. Social distancing and similar precautions need to become normal, conditioned behaviors.

None of this means you can’t live relatively normal lives. It just means you have to follow the rules. Like brushing your teeth and making your bed. Add to list ‘wash your hands, stop touching your face.’
