St. Mary's Residential Community and Services

St. Mary's Residential Community and Services St. Mary's mission is to provide a loving, spiritual community that allows individuals living with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Mary’s campus has many fun activities, including an indoor swimming pool, splash pads, a gymnasium, a beauty shop, several playgrounds, a miniature golf course, a covered horse riding arena, a walking/biking trail, a chapel in which Sunday and holy day Masses are celebrated, and many special events. The children at St. Mary’s reside in either dormitory or group home settings and receive individualized care. Each resident has an Individualized Program Plan developed by the Interdisciplinary Team, detailing their strengths and needs and outlining goals and objectives, which when achieved, will allow the individual to function more independently. Residents participate in day-time training either through the Rapides Parish School Board, St. Mary’s Applied Behavior Analysis Learning Center, or Day and Work Programs. Daily living tasks and community outings provide incidental training opportunities to our children, which contribute to their independence. Mary’s staff include two Board Certified Behavior Analysts, who work to promote the comprehensive principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Part of St. Mary’s success for effectively treating children with severe autism is through our ABA Program. This research based program is extremely successful for children with autism and has also proven to be effective for other spectrum disorders. ABA breaks training goals down into small segments and uses positive reinforcement. The ABA
program is utilized in St. Mary’s ABA Learning Center and is currently being introduced throughout the main campus and our group homes.

We had a wonderful visit from Santa that brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of Christmas cheer to our campus! Residents enjoyed spending time with Santa and sharing in the joy of the season. Our ABA team also hosted festive Christmas craft activities, giving residents a fun and creative way to celebrate. These hands-on crafts encouraged self-expression, fine motor skills, and plenty of holiday spirit.

Moments like these remind us that the magic of Christmas is found in togetherness, joy, and creating meaningful memories.

The St. Mary’s Family & Friends Club stopped by to spread some holiday cheer by passing out gifts to our incredible staff. This meaningful effort was led by several dedicated parents.

The Family & Friends Club operates as an independent nonprofit, separate from St. Mary’s, with a mission focused on supporting both our residents and the people who care for them each day. The group raised all of the funds themselves to do something special for our team—a true reflection of how deeply they value the staff who look after their loved ones.

In addition, the club has created a Facebook group exclusively for families, giving parents and guardians a space to connect, share information, and strengthen their support network. The club is currently in the middle of a rebrand and is encouraging all families of current residents to join and be part of this growing community.
