St. Mary's Residential Community and Services

St. Mary's Residential Community and Services St. Mary's mission is to provide a loving, spiritual community that allows individuals living with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Mary’s campus has many fun activities, including an indoor swimming pool, splash pads, a gymnasium, a beauty shop, several playgrounds, a miniature golf course, a covered horse riding arena, a walking/biking trail, a chapel in which Sunday and holy day Masses are celebrated, and many special events. The children at St. Mary’s reside in either dormitory or group home settings and receive individualized care. Each resident has an Individualized Program Plan developed by the Interdisciplinary Team, detailing their strengths and needs and outlining goals and objectives, which when achieved, will allow the individual to function more independently. Residents participate in day-time training either through the Rapides Parish School Board, St. Mary’s Applied Behavior Analysis Learning Center, or Day and Work Programs. Daily living tasks and community outings provide incidental training opportunities to our children, which contribute to their independence. Mary’s staff include two Board Certified Behavior Analysts, who work to promote the comprehensive principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Part of St. Mary’s success for effectively treating children with severe autism is through our ABA Program. This research based program is extremely successful for children with autism and has also proven to be effective for other spectrum disorders. ABA breaks training goals down into small segments and uses positive reinforcement. The ABA
program is utilized in St. Mary’s ABA Learning Center and is currently being introduced throughout the main campus and our group homes.

We loved every minute of it. Opportunities like this give our residents a chance to step into the community, contribute in a real way, and be part of something bigger.

Thank you to Food Bank of Central Louisiana for welcoming us—we’re already looking forward to the next time. 💙

We were so excited to welcome volunteers from St. Mary's Residential Community and Services to the Food Bank of Central Louisiana.

We appreciate their help bagging produce to be distributed to our food-insecure neighbors. Their time, energy, and willingness to serve mean so much to our mission.

At St. Mary’s, our residential homes are just that… homes. Spaces where residents build their own routines, enjoy fun activities, and live in an environment that feels comfortable, familiar, and truly their own. Because real life isn’t staged—and neither is the sense of home we create here.

If you’re a parent wondering what the right next step looks like for your child, you’re not just choosing a place. You’re choosing a home, a community, and a team that will care for them like family. At St. Mary’s, we understand the weight of that decision. That’s why we focus on creating an environment that feels safe, supportive, and genuinely lived in—where your child can grow, build independence, and be part of something meaningful.

When you’re ready, we’re here to talk, to answer your questions, and to walk that next step with you.

At St. Mary’s Residential Community & Services, we are committed to creating an environment where individuals with developmental disabilities experience meaningful connection, structured support, and a true sense of belonging in Cenla. Our residents rely on a number of therapeutic aids to address their diverse needs. Aids like adaptive eating utensils, therapy balls, sensory swings and art supplies are essential tools we use daily to promote our residents’ independence, engagement and overall well-being.

Chapel is more than a service—it’s a time for connection, comfort, and community. A place where residents can slow down, be present, and share something meaningful together. At St. Mary’s Residential Community & Services, we believe care goes beyond daily routines. It includes spiritual support, emotional connection, and creating moments that bring peace and purpose.

Supporting people with autism doesn’t look the same for everyone.

At St. Mary’s, it’s built around the individual — and it changes as they grow.

As Dr. Eliana Pizarro, who leads autism support at St. Mary’s, shares,

“Society prepares us to make assumptions about autism, but we have to get to know the individual before we can understand their autistic experience.”

We’ll be sharing more about what that support looks like throughout the month.

Most people don’t know what care really looks like at St. Mary’s. It’s not in big moments. It’s in the everyday ones. Helping with routines. Spending time together. Showing up—every single day.

For Jayce, that looks like participating in his ABA programming and working through each activity with steady support. He communicates through gestures and is continuing to build new ways to express his wants and needs. These moments may seem small to others—but here, they are everything. This is what care really looks like. This is St. Mary's.

If you’re looking for trusted care, meaningful programs, and a community that truly shows up—St. Mary’s is here. Learn more about our programs and services: https://www.stmaryscenter.org
