Retirement Letter from Dr. Winston Browne III:

Dear Patients and Friends,

For the past thirty nine years, I have spent my career practicing family dentistry in Boykins and it has been one of the most satisfying and pleasurable parts of my life. Getting to know you and your families and providing you with your dental care has been an important part of who I am.

As much as I have enjoyed my dental experience, it is time for me to pass the torch to a new dentist and for me to retire. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to transition my practice to Dr. Jacqueline Brown-Phoenix Family Dentistry. Yes, another Dr. Brown with a slightly new spelling. The new Dr. Brown is a Southampton County resident and sent to Southampton High School. We are excited to keep this practice private and to have someone from our own community to take care of you.

My primary goal was to keep this practice going with private ownership and to maintain the same atmosphere that all of you are accustomed to having, to be treated like family. Our same great staff will be here to take care of you and to continue providing excellent dental care.

One of the hardest parts of my retirement will be saying good-by to all of you in the dental office, but chances are our paths will cross in this small community. Knowing and caring for you has made coming to work something I look forward to and your trust in my ability to provide you with excellent dental care means the world to me.

Thank you once more for the confidence you have placed in me over the years and I ask also in your confidence that I have chosen a very worthy and competent successor. Dr. Jacqueline Brown is looking forward to meeting you!

We have enjoyed having Copeland Lachapelle working with us this summer! He is bright, easy going and anxious to become a dentist! He will be starting dental school at UNC Chapel Hill at the end of this month. Our staff thinks the world of Copeland!! Good luck and know we are always there for you!

Dr. Browne would like to welcome the newest member to his staff. Jenna Billups is from Black Creek and is a graduate from Old Dominion University's Dental Hygiene Program.

Dr. Browne's office wanted to remind everyone that we are open. Our staff is continually trying to reach out to our patients to reschedule any Cleaning or Restorative appointments that were missed in March and April due to COVID 19.

As always, our office is taking every precaution to reduce the risk of spreading infectious disease as well as meeting the needs of our patients. We are current with PPE and are operating under CDC/ADA guidelines to protect us and our patients.

On Wed April 29 Governor Northam gave dental offices permission to begin seeing non-emergency patients starting Friday May 1, 2020. We are so excited to get back to our normal operating hours and seeing all of you! We have begun seeing non emergency patients as of today Monday May 4, 2020. We are prepared with proper PPE to provide protection for our staff and patients. If you have any questions regarding appointments, please feel free to call us at 757-654-6226! If we have cancelled your dental cleaning, we will begin calling you soon to reschedule!

We are taking every precaution in the office to reduce the risk of spreading infectious disease as well as meeting the needs of our patients.

Dear Patients,

As of March 25th, Governor Northam and State Health Commissioner Oliver have directed hospitals and medical/dental offices to stop seeing all non-emergency patients. This mandate comes as a preventative measure to preserve the supply of personal protective equipment in our state. This will be in effect until April 24th. If you have a dental cleaning scheduled with us during this period, please be advised that we will be calling you to cancel your appointment. We will be in the office a couple of days a week to see any emergency patients as well as procedures that if not done in a timely manner could cause you pain. If you have any questions about your treatment, please feel free to call us!

Our office is closed in preparation for Hurricane Florence. We plan to reopen on Monday September 17 for normal operation. Please check back for any updates or changes in office hours. We pray that everyone is safe!
