I attended the LymeBytes Symposium 2025 conference in Pompano Beach, Florida.
You could feel the positive energy in the room of all the practitioners to learn updates in treating patients with Lyme Disease, Mold , Mast Cell Activation Syndrome ( MCAS) and related diseases. It was great to catch up with good friends and fellow thought leaders in the field. We learned additional tools to help our patients with chronic complex illness improve!

I attended the LymeBytes Symposium 2025 conference in Pompano Beach, Florida.
You could feel the positive energy in the room of all the practitioners to learn updates in treating patients with Lyme Disease , Mold, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome( MCAS),and related diseases. Seeing this from my tour bus in Europe reminds me not to let my guard down when traveling. Countries in Europe where Lyme is more prevalent are Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, and Germany. Lyme disease has been found on every continent except Antarctica! Deer are a “transportation system “ for ticks that carry Lyme disease.

As part of the ILADS Tick Borne Illness Fundamentals course, I taught the class on Tick- Borne Relapsing Fever ( TBRF). Some important points include:
1- The symptoms can be similar to Lyme Disease, so it is important to also be tested for TBRF in someone who has Lyme Disease symptoms or the diagnosis could be missed and someone could be left untreated!

2- the ticks which transmit this can have short attachment times and this disease has been reported to be transmitted within Seconds of attachment!

3-The IgM antibody can turn positive after 2 weeks which is sooner then for Lyme ( Borellia burgdorferi)

Pictures from the ILADEF gala where Barbara Buchman was given the “Pioneer in Lyme Award”. Barbara was the Executive Director for about the first 25 years of ILADS. She was a major contributor to ILADS growth.
We all thank Barbara for her extraordinary service!

About Dr. Greenfield

Dr. Greenfield has been practicing for 28+ years, and he is currently Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.

When he lived in New York, he taught Internal Medicine residents at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, a teaching hospital, while also teaching medical students from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he held the academic rank of “Instructor in Medicine.” Later, Dr. Greenfield earned the academic rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital. ​

After working in various clinical settings in New York, Dr. Greenfield opened his own primary care / Internal Medicine practice on Long Island, which he ran for 11 years. Dr. Greenfield received ILADS training in New York with Dr. Bernard Raxlen (an LLMD & ILADS Co-Founder), where he spent roughly 2 years.
