Arch to Freedom is a structured therapuetic community utlilizing clinician supervised case management, peer-based recovery support, spirituality, and experiential- community building events. Arch to Freedom is a structured sober living rooted in the 12 Step approach to recovery as we help our clients to create a new and healthy fellowship. The development of life skills like budgeting, resume buil

ding, job placement, physical activity and personal integrity are also extremely important. We are here to help teach and hold our clients accountable to the recovery process while integrating these necessary life skills. At Arch to Freedom, we have an abundant and supportive community that will challenge and help our clients to become healthier and productive people. It is our mission that our clients have a challenging, nurturing and fun experience. Our mission is to promote the well-being of men in recovery from alcohol, drugs and other related behaviors by providing a safe, structured, independent sober living environment utilizing a service system that emphasizes trust, respect, confidentiality and compassion. Our focus is to provide comfortable, quality living in surroundings conducive to abstinence, recovery and personal growth. Our goal is to create and maintain a sober atmosphere that supports confidence, self-worth and the motivation necessary for a healthy return to conventional living and mainstream society. While residing in a structured environment, house members are encouraged to build essential skills for reintegration into society and productive living.

For those of you who haven’t met Dr. Christina Raphael yet, it’s time to share!

Dr. Raphael is the Director of Case Management here at Arch to Freedom and she comes with some serious credentials: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, AASECT Certified S*x Therapist, and Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy.

But what makes her truly extraordinary isn’t just her expertise or leadership. It’s her passion for building other leaders. Whether she’s offering supervision, leading study groups, or guiding clinical trainings, Dr. Raphael shows up with intention, heart, and a commitment to lifting others up.

Here at Arch to Freedom, she plays a key role not only in supervising and supporting our case management team but in shaping how we grow as professionals and as people. From trainings centered around intervention techniques to thoughtful conversations about burnout and staff self-care, Dr. Raphael brings a whole-person approach to the entire team, not just our clients.

And still, with everything she brings to the field, if you ask her what quality she loves most about herself, she’ll tell you it’s being a mother.

Pivotpoint WNC does incredible diversion and prevention work with kids in western Carolina. “They get kids outside!” Was how my buddy described our work from my much wordier breakdown I gave him. But it’s true, through coaching and curriculum we do great work with youth in our area, while in the great mountains in western NC. I’m proud that Arch to Freedom could sponsor this super fun golf tournament, and I’m even more proud that I get to sit as a board member to aid in the impact in the western North Carolina community.

Nothing says bonding like shooting your roommate in the back (with love). Paintballs were flying, laughs were loud, and there was absolutely no mercy. Just a bunch of guys pushing themselves, showing up, and having a damn good time.

This isn’t what recovery looks like.

This is what recovery is.

Breaking News:

If excellence, heart, and a little Beyoncé energy could be bottled up into one person, it would look a lot like Jason.

With a career that started in high-stakes retail (opening Walmart stores without losing his mind, which is a miracle in itself), Jason went on to dominate operations in healthcare and mental health before bringing his leadership and heart to Arch to Freedom.

Since joining us in 2015, first as a case manager and now Chief Program Officer, Jason has been the magic behind the curtain and the calm during the storms. His personal recovery journey only deepens the heart he brings to every resident, family, and staff member he supports.

We do not know how he does it.

Managing logistics, being sassy, mentoring staff, guiding residents, calming families, remembering 300 different schedules, and of course being sassy, all while making it look like a walk in the park. (A very fabulous park.)

Honestly, when Jason takes PTO, half of us forget because somehow, everything still runs.

(Although we do secretly love finding ways to throw a tiny wrench in his vacation plans. It is our love language.)

Jason, you are not just a leader. You are a force.

You have lifted this program, inspired our staff, and changed more lives than you probably even realize.

We love you, Jason. Thank you for being exactly who you are and exactly who we need.

Super late on this: Incredible golf event hosted by Hanley. Great time with Terry Shapiro of Gia Miami, Mike with Mark Behavioral Health, and a former Arch employee, Daniel Quinn. We didn’t win, but we played well, and all proceeds went to the Hanley Foundations Life Saver Scholarship- an incredible cause.

We work with a lot of incredible people in this field, and every now and then we have to take a moment to throw some recognition where it’s due.

Aileen Perez is one of those people.

If you’ve crossed paths with her at Hanley, you know she brings her whole heart to this work. From Behavioral Health Tech to Recovery Advocate, Group Therapist, and now Case Manager across multiple levels of care, Aileen’s journey has been fueled by purpose and compassion. She’s earned her B.S. in Human Services, holds a certificate in Addiction Studies, and has made an impact in every role she’s taken on.

But what really sets her apart is how she shows up: grounded, present, and full of light. Her personal experiences have shaped the way she connects, with empathy, understanding, and a deep belief in the healing power of being seen.

Looking ahead, Aileen is focused on advocating for the Hispanic and Latinx immigrant communities. She’s committed to developing programs that close gaps in treatment access, provide education, and support people in building fuller, healthier lives.

We’re grateful not only to work alongside Aileen, but also to collaborate with Hanley Foundation and witness the incredible care and dedication they pour into the lives of those they serve.

Meet Lumi, Arch to Freedom’s princess.

She’s a big girl, but tread lightly. She demands to be called thiccccc (with at least four C’s). One blue eye, one brown, and enough sass to keep the whole house in check.

Other than the occasional embarrassment when we have to pick up her p**p in public, Lumi is a strong, independent, and undeniably classy lady. She struts through the house like she’s on a runway and collects belly rubs like it’s rent.

And while we only work with males here at Arch, Lumi strutted in like she owned the place… and we didn’t stand a chance. Now she runs the house, and honestly? We’re better for it.

At Arch to Freedom, we believe healing comes in many forms, and Lumi is walking, wagging proof. Pets offer what we all need a little more of: unconditional love, loyalty, and presence. She reminds us to stay present, laugh often, and love hard (even when we’re covered in fur).

This one’s for you, Lumi. Big shout out to the queen herself. Thanks for keeping the love real and the vibes high.
