On September 13th, our Central Regional Coordinator, Lauren Miller, connected with partners at the Brevard RecoveryFest 2025. The event was a resounding success, with full capacity attendance. It featured over 80 organizations. These included mental health providers, detox and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment centers, support groups such as AA, NA, Al-Anon, and Nar-Anon, as well as Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs).

We are seeing a concerning trend in certified recovery residences across Florida. Xylazine, a veterinary sedative, is increasingly being mixed with fentanyl. Because it is not an opioid, naloxone (Narcan) cannot reverse its effects.

Providers should increase drug screening, review contraband protocols, and educate staff and residents immediately.
