Melissa Sosa-Miracolo, LMHC Counseling

Melissa Sosa-Miracolo, LMHC Counseling Change your thoughts and change your life. Love who you are today. Just as you are. There is no judgment when you walk through her door.

Melissa has been working as a mental health professional since the early 2000’s. Along the way, she’s learned the importance of making people feel safe, heard, and understood. With Melissa, you can expect to feel at ease with her approachable, relatable, and down-to-earth attitude. She has an innate understanding of the pain life can cause and how chronic pain can sometimes cause you to suffer eno

ugh to struggle to function. Nonetheless, Melissa is honest and direct, and you can expect to receive authentic feedback. Her goal is always to help you uncover truths about yourself so that you can be the realest version of who you are. You can expect to learn new ideas and methods of coping that can help you better navigate your stressors in life. Symptoms of depression, anxiety, and issues related to childhood trauma can have a lasting impact on how we think and deal with stress and Melissa’s goal is to better help you understand the limitations you may be placing on yourself – allowing you to become a healthier and more functional individual. And don’t be surprised if she cracks a joke too – she often uses humor to make her clients feel more relaxed and at ease – especially since therapy can often be focused on heavy stuff! Melissa says, “there is nothing more beautiful or empowering than to see an individual open their mind to fully loving themselves with compassion and eyes wide open to all of their strengths AND weaknesses.” She looks forward to you reaching out to schedule a session and begin your journey with her as your biggest cheerleader. “If I only love my body when the number on the scale is low, it’s no different than only loving a man when his bank account is high.”

That’s the message we’ve all been fed:
🎯 Your worth is in your appearance.
🎯 His worth is in his money.

And somehow, we’re both left chasing worth we already had.

It’s no wonder men resent being seen as ATMs—and women resent being seen as bodies.

We’ve all been groomed to measure value by external metrics instead of internal truth.

And loving ourselves only when we’re “perfect” is just another form of self-abandonment.
You don’t have to earn love by shrinking, or growing richer, or fixing yourself.

You just have to see through the lie—and stop buying what patriarchy’s been selling.

Waiting for someone to change can quietly wear you down.
You hold on to their potential, their promises, the version of them you hope they’ll become.

But growth isn’t something you can do for someone else.
And love doesn’t mean putting your life on hold while someone stays the same.

Ask yourself gently:
🔸 What am I hoping for?
🔸 What am I afraid will happen if I stop waiting?
🔸 What do I need that I’ve been postponing?

You’re allowed to want more.
You’re allowed to choose peace over potential.
You’re allowed to stop waiting.

Tired doesn’t mean broken.
It means you’ve been doing the work of ten people, in silence.
And you’re still here.

Why Silence is So Powerful—and So Complicated
Silence is the shield that protects abusers and isolates victims. It preserves appearances, avoids accountability, and keeps painful truths hidden.

But for victims, silence often isn’t a choice—it’s a survival strategy. Speaking up can feel terrifying. Many have been gaslit, blamed, or dismissed. Others carry the weight of shame or fear the consequences of telling the truth.

If you’ve stayed silent, you’re not weak—you were protecting yourself the best way you knew how. And if you're finding your voice now, know this:
You don’t owe anyone your story. But if and when you choose to speak, the silence doesn’t win.

Loving someone with limited emotional capacity means grieving the connection you’ll never have—and learning to stop reaching where there’s no room to be held.

Therapists are people too.
We’ve either seen it all, lived through it all—or both.
We’re drawn to this work not because we have all the answers, but because we carry a deep drive to understand, to offer compassion, and to leave the world a little better than we found it.

It’s not weakness to leave what wounded you—it’s wisdom.
