On February 5, 2026, my entire world changed overnight. Without any warning, Meta suddenly shut down all of my accounts—both personal and business. My personal account had been active for more than 12 years, and my business account for 3 years. These accounts were not just social media pages; they were my livelihood, my only way to support my family.
I am a small Latina, immigrant, woman business owner. My business is my main source of income because I have a child with a disability and cannot work a traditional job. I help my husband provide for our family, and social media is the only marketing I can afford. When Meta shut down my accounts, they didn’t just remove a profile—they took away my financial stability, my clients, and years of hard work.
That same night, I appealed. Within hours, my appeal was denied. I was shocked and devastated to learn that Meta falsely accused me of child exploitation. No proof. No explanation. No prior warning. As a mother of three children who has dedicated her life to protecting and providing for them, this accusation is beyond traumatic. It has affected my mental health, my dignity, and my reputation.
My family has already endured hardship. As an immigrant, I once faced deportation and was separated from my family for almost two years. I rebuilt my life from nothing. I worked hard to create a small, honest business to support my children. And suddenly, with one automated decision, everything was destroyed again.
Because I had no choice, I started over from zero. From February 5 to February 14, I spent countless hours rebuilding—creating content, reconnecting with clients, paying for ads, and trying to restore my business. I even paid for Meta verification so I could get real support and avoid this nightmare again. But on February 14, my new verified account was shut down too—again without explanation.
I contacted Meta customer service, and they told me they would investigate. They even called me and assured me they were working on my case. The next morning, my account was permanently disabled. No appeal. No real review. No answers.
At the same time, Meta continued charging my credit card for advertisements while my account was closed and inaccessible. They took my money while blocking my ability to run my business.
This is not just unfair—it is devastating. I have been falsely labeled with one of the worst accusations possible, without any transparency or due process. My business, my income, my mental health, and my family’s stability have all been put at risk.
I am asking for accountability, transparency, and fairness—not only for myself but for every small business owner who could lose everything overnight because of automated systems and a lack of human review.
