Every parent waits for that first word. But for some kids, words take longer to come.
Dr. Justin Kueser and his team at the Emerging Language Knowledge (ELK) Laboratory are studying how children learn language so we can find better ways to support them early. See more: https://bit.ly/4k7zSAY

Healthy vision helps kids learn and thrive, but many children do not realize they have vision problems because they think their sight is normal.

The National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health recommends an eye screening by age 5 to catch issues early. If your child has frequent headaches, light sensitivity or trouble seeing clearly, contact your primary provider or a pediatric ophthalmologist.

01/19/2026

It is important parents pay close attention to their child’s vision as they grow. In order to recognize a child is suffering from unclear vision, it is beneficial to know when a child should see an ophthalmologist.

Happy First Birthday, Poppy! 🎂

We celebrated our favorite four-legged teammate with a paw-ty and a special cake from Woof & Whiskers. We are so excited for Poppy to finish up her training and become a full time employee. Special thank you to our partners at Physicians Mutual for sponsoring our Facility Dog program and ensuring Poppy is healthy and strong with her pet insurance coverage.

If you see Poppy, our Child Life Facility Dog, out and about doing her training, make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday. 🥳

It is an honor to have Boys Town National Research Hospital selected as a recipient of the Imagine Grant: Go Further, Faster Award from Amazon Web Services.

This award supports our work to improve pediatric hearing care by using generative AI to predict ear canal shape and acoustics through simple, non-invasive scans. By combining AI with 3D printing, we can create custom hearing aid earmolds without traditional ear impressions, making the process more comfortable for children, reducing clinic visits, and delivering more precise fittings.

Thousands of children in our community could benefit from this breakthrough. We are grateful to collaborate with AWS as we continue advancing research and innovation that helps children hear better.
Thank you, 6 News WOWT, for sharing this story.

Thousands of children in the metro area with hearing loss endure uncomfortable hearing aid fittings multiple times each year, but new research using artificial intelligence technology aims to make the process quicker and more comfortable.
