Procedure of the Month: Neurotoxin "Tox"
To recap this is what we have learned about Neurotoxin "Tox" this month.
What is a neurotoxin “Tox”?
A neurotoxin is a substance that blocks certain chemical signals from the nerves that cause a muscle to contract
Example of Neurotoxin “Tox”: Xeomin, Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, Daxxify
How long does it last: For the typical client, people can expect Tox to last on average between 3-4 months. It takes 2 full weeks for it to take full effect. While some people will see results as soon as 2-3 days
Where can you do Tox?
While it is FDA-approved for only the crow’s feet, glabella (between your brows), and forehead, providers use Tox literally everywhere on the face, neck, and traps. It all depends on what bothers a client and the experience level of the injector.
Did you know you can get a sharper jawline through the use of Tox? When applied in the right places along the jawline and in the neck it can help give a more lifted appearance to the central face as well as sharpen the jawline.
Tox is NOT a filler. It does not add volume to facial areas. It reduces wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause the lines.
Tox can be used to treat depression. It has actually been shown that Tox can help treat depression and that people who get Botox are generally happier than those who don’t.
This may seem crazy, but more and more research has shown that there is a real connection between how people look and how they feel.
Also, emotions are tied to facial expressions.
By relaxing the facial muscles, the facial expressions for negative emotions are diminished, which in turn makes people feel better. If you can’t frown, you’ll feel happier!
