At first glance, kindness and people-pleasing can look the same—but the difference lies in motivation and how it impacts our well-being.

Kindness grows from empathy, compassion, and self-assurance. People-pleasing often comes from a place of fear—fear of rejection, conflict, or not being “enough.” Both come from wanting to connect, but one tends to leave us feeling nourished, while the other can leave us feeling drained.

In therapy, you can explore where your patterns come from, learn how to set healthy boundaries, and discover that it’s possible to care for others without losing care for yourself.

Happy Labor Day!

Today is a reminder that your worth isn’t measured only by your work. Rest, boundaries, and caring for your mental health are all part of the job too.

As you celebrate this day, take a moment to honor the balance between effort and rest because your value is so much more than your productivity.

Some things you can’t just ‘snap out of.’ It’s not always that simple. Sometimes the weight sticks around, even when you’re doing all the right things. That doesn’t mean you’re broken, it means you’re human. Be gentle with yourself, especially on the days that feel heavier than most. 🖤

The idea that people with mental illness are inherently violent is a harmful myth that’s not backed by research. In reality, most individuals with mental health conditions are not violent—they’re more likely to be victims of violence themselves. Factors like substance abuse or lack of access to care can contribute to violent behavior, but mental illness alone doesn’t make someone dangerous. The media often perpetuates these stereotypes, but it’s important to remember that violence is complex and influenced by many factors. People with mental health challenges deserve empathy, support, and understanding, not fear or discrimination. Let’s break the stigma and approach mental health with compassion.

Starting school is a big transition, and it can bring up a lot of emotions for kids (and parents!). Therapy can be such a helpful tool during this time, offering a safe space for children to process their feelings, manage anxiety, and build coping skills for the new school year. Whether it’s adjusting to new routines, making new friends, or navigating the challenges of a different learning environment, therapy can give kids the emotional support they need to thrive. It’s okay to ask for help, and seeking therapy shows your commitment to their mental health and well-being. Remember, it’s not just about academic growth—it’s about emotional growth, too! 🌱
