Last week I decided to get some X-rays of my spine. I haven’t seen an image of my spondy (spondylolisthesis) since I was 16yrs old.
I discovered I had this injury after going to the chiropractor for the first time. He required X-rays before treatment. I had a lot of discomfort in my hips and legs growing up. My feet would go numb often especially when walking, sitting always hurt, I had chronic sciatica (I didn’t know what the pain was till I was older), I had trouble with bowel movements, and P.E. was a complete nightmare. I’m surprised I could get through marching band. I have no memory of when the fracture to my pars occurred but it probably happened in my single digit years.
I currently have a Grade 2 and when I was 16 it was a Grade 3. Through diet, strengthening, stretching, regular chiropractic, and receiving frequent bodywork I have been able to keep my discomfort down and slowly improve my old injury. I am grateful for the results. I even had another back injury in 2021 that I’ve already healed, thank goodness!
I feel confident I will be able to fully heal this injury but it will take a lot of time since my profession involves lots of bending. I will get another X-ray in a year and we’ll see how much I can improve by using a specific back brace daily. It is designed to encourage my spine to go back into place and hold me in that position while I work.
I tell my clients all the time that I’m always learning so that I can improve as much as I can in my body, my life, and my business. If you are experiencing chronic pain and would like a new perspective, try a session at Busy Bee. It might be path/life changing!🐝🐝🐝
