What are conjoint sessions? In Applied Family Systems (AFS):
* Conjoint sessions are individual therapy sessions that happen conjointly with another family member(s) and the therapist(s) of the family member(s)
* Conjoint sessions are not family or couples therapy sessions but are used to help a client practice their individual skills they are learning in their individual sessions with a family member to promote better understanding and safety between two or more family members
* Conjoint sessions are offered when there are barriers to a client being able to successfully use a skill independently outside of session
