ATTENTION Horse Owners!!!! The DoTerra blend DIGESTZEN works....it really works with enterotoxemia type colicks. This is Scotty...he is 28 yrs. old. He developed a severe gut problem last fall....severe pain...upside down legs in the air pain...developed a watery foul projectile diarrhea. Vet was over an hr. away. We applied 20 drops Digestzen on his belly line EVERY 10 MINUTES & 5 in his lower lip. We also used lavender on face, ears, nostrils & belly for calming & pain relief. We added straight peppermint....5 drops every 10 mins on belly, sides of sheath. We did this for an HOUR! He improved.....so much so he was sitting up in 1.5 hrs......vet said keep doing what your doing. In 2 hrs he was standing & then walked back to his pen, when in & started eating!!! Having witnessed Horse deaths to enterotoxemia/colitis x type cases over the last 25 yrs., I thought we would lose this horse. In my opinion, the rapid proliferation of bad gut bacteria was halted by the Oils....the Oils then "rebalance" the good gut bacteria.....the fast healing effect just blew my mind.......there's more to this story. Anyone wanting more info on this experience.....pm me!

Those nasty little no-see-um bugs that make crusty sores on horses chests & abdominal mid-line....I HATE'EM!!! PEPPERMINT works great to repel....some lavendar for healing...put 25 drops each in a glass 20 or thirty mil. spray bottle. Apply as often as possible. It works! Peppermint also has a cooling action...I've noticed the horses acting relieved in the heat. Try it!

Another Enterotoxemia bout quelled by Essential Oils!!! I find this amazing to say the least. Severe colic style pain began, a protocol of Digestzen blend and Lavender begun immediately, 20 drops on abdomen and sheath area by hand every 15 mins. 5 drops in lower lip. By the time vet was available, progress was enough that we did not haul horse to vet clinic......and opted to continue the Oils Protocol. Progress conntinued but it took 10 hours before the horse was back to normal 100%.
However, this horse NEVER NEEDED IV fluids, drugs or anything else,( of course probiotics were added to his regimen) and never relapsed. He has been perfectly healthy ever since this episode two months ago.
Conclusion: The rapid proliferation of "bad" bacteria in a horses
gut is difficult to treat, as antibiotics often kill off too much "good" bacteria at the same time, causing more gut problems. My feeling is these Essential Oils, being the distilled chemical components of a plants DEFENSE MECHANISM, "rebalance" the gut bacteria, while eliminating the "bad" bacteria. These are my observations from these last two experiences with Enterotoxemia, They are observations only, But the experiences have been too profound not to share

PS. The lavender was applied around the nostrils , and on the tips of the ears for calming, and on the abdomen for pain. We never used our Bute or Banamine which was on hand and ready. In hindsight, I think Banamine could be a very good addition is these kinds of cases. Essentials Oils and drugs are not contra-indicated, except for a very few (ie, use of bloodthinning drugs and Cypress)

I will post more information from cases and experiences as they
develop.

NOTICE!.....ALERT! DIGESTZEN really does work for equine intestinal troubles! At first colic signs, rub 5 drops with your palms on bellyline. Apply to sides and loin area same way. Even the lower lip-just inside it.....3 drops. We had incredible results with a severe colitis X/enteritis case. It took over an hour, vet thought he was toast. We used Digestzen and Lavender. We applied every 15 minutes! Horse was absolutely normal in a 2 hours. Enuff said.

This is Ace--fully recovered from a bad myopathy of the long vastus muscle , a large thigh muscle. He was unrideable, in alot of pain, and "acting out" with alot of bad behavior. We used lemongrass and frankincense together, 2 drops each , every day, for 2 weeks at a time, with one week off,~~~~~ along with the gymnastic Yoga style exercises of Topline Horsemanship ,~~~~~to bring about this marvelous return to full, happy use as a saddle horse!!!!! Hooray !!!!! Oh, and the Essential oils allow the body to heal itself, naturally and effectively. Essential Oils support the horses body and immune function.

IT'S FLY SEASON!!!! (duh) . Unfortunately, using commercial chemical fly sprays adds to our overload of chemicals we already are exposed to (and our animals). Thousands of chemicals are used in almost every product you use on a daily basis. Your rub them on your skin, you drink them, you feed them to your children and pets, and you breathe them. INTERESTED IN A NATURAL FLY CONTROL ALTERNATIVE? The potency of doTerra essential oils makes them AWESOME for fly control for horses and pets---and the beauty of it--you can spray yourself and feel good about it!!! Here's my favorite recipe:
In a 24 oz. glass spray bottle ( check aromatools.com)

-20 drops Terrashield
-10 drops cedarwood
-10 drops lemongrass
-5 drops eucalyptus
fill up the bottle with DISTILLED WATER ( the contaminants in other water will "fight" with the oils) or fractionated coconut oil (for more stick) . The recipe can be made milder or stronger, of course, according to need. Try putting it on collars, halters, on strips of cloth tied into manes, forelocks, etc.

New case study!!! We are caring for a 2 yr. old c**t who has a navel area hernia . Apparently he has had this since weaning age. We are going to apply Digestzen blend 2x a day for a week, then reassess and possibly a blend of Digestzen , Helichrysum and Frankincense. We will post photos before and after, and progress pics. This is Red, the horse mentioned below. He had a stifle surgery about 2 yrs. ago. That surgery, according to the last vet that observed him, may have been a negative. He has an outward "swing step" in his right hind leg occasionally. Is not evident at trot or canter. He can carry a rider and shows no discomfort or pain. Forward strides are normal as is lateral work in all four limbs. He has progressed in Equinastic work and is receiving structural integration (connective tissue manipulation) treatments. We are now using doTerra Essentilal Oils ------2 drops lemongrass and 2 drops AromaTouch blend to the stifle area on top of FCO (fractionated coconut oil).-every day after stretch work. Also, an AromaTouch Technique on his spine 2x/week. The AromaTouch Technique is an application of up to 7 different oils and blends along the spine from poll to tail. This will be a long -term project for sure! We will see what the summer brings!
The photo show the "Topline Stretch" we teach for a yoga -like fascia releasing effect. We use that stationary , in movement---in hand and under saddle.
