COVID CRISIS…
A conversation to someone reluctant to get vaccinated. Just questioning like everybody else and reading into all of the negative tabloids that are displayed across the news venues.
With everything that I’m seeing in the hospital, I strongly encourage everybody who has not been vaccinated to do so. Unfortunately, about 98% of my patients that are currently in the hospital requiring ventilator assistance and hospital services are non-vaccinated. Those that happen to have been admitted with COVID even after vaccination, their symptoms are much much milder and they recover much more quickly and do not have the prolonged sequelae that the others have. J&J, which was tested as more inferior to the Pfizer and Mederna vaccine, is at least better than nothing. The one that I have noticed have the best trends so far has been Mederna, even with those that have been admitted as positive COVID after vaccination (I have had only one and she was not admitted for COVID but something else, just so happened she was tested and came back positive).
The mRNA technology has been around for many years utilized in cancer treatments. It has actually been tested in vaccines also over time, however, most companies ran out of funding because the government was not subsidizing. The reason why this took off so quickly last year when COVID arrived was because the government removed all barriers and provided a significant amount of funding to these companies to solidify the technology.
Unfortunately, if this pandemic would’ve happened approximately 3-4 years ago, there wouldn’t be so much controversy in efficacy and purpose. Unfortunately, this became very political secondary to the polarized election and so we are in the current mess we are in now. Everyone with distrust, skepticism and feel this is a political ploy.
I believe it is something like 98% of physicians have been vaccinated. And the majority of them polled said that they would even give it to their kids at this point in time even without appropriate trials. This is just more of an signifier of how we actually are relying on this technology and this therapy that we have available to us, that many are no taking seriously. Most of the major companies are now running booster trials with extra sequencing to help assist with any forthcoming variant mutations. These variant mutations are existing due to the unvaccinated host that this virus relies on to replicate and thrive.
I know this probably will not sway some people’s decision either way, however, at least I have provided you with some insight from somebody who is actually rounding at the hospitals with the sick and dying people and not having any influence by the news or the biased opinions on the internet (I do not watch or read either because it is all crap)….
We are treating hundreds, thousands, millions of patients who are suffering and dying from this virus. I have yet to have to treat one person who had an adverse reaction or is dying from the vaccine….
