How long do seasonal allergies last?
Seasonal allergy symptoms last as long as allergens like pollen are in the air—typically from spring to fall. Tree, grass, and w**d pollens all peak at different times, causing symptoms to vary by season. Keep an eye on pollen counts, especially on dry, windy days! 🌬️

Are Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs) Linked to Allergies?

While both URIs and allergies can leave you feeling miserable with symptoms like nasal congestion, sneezing, and a runny nose, they’re caused by different factors. 🤔

URIs are caused by viral or bacterial infections 🦠
Allergies happen when your immune system reacts to allergens like pollen, dust, or pet dander.

However, allergies can make you more vulnerable to infections, as chronic nasal inflammation weakens your nasal defenses. Plus, allergies can make URI symptoms worse and recovery longer.

If you're dealing with symptoms or need advice, PrimeHealth Urgent Care is here to help! Visit our website to look for a location near you and book an appointment today!

How Long Does a Cold Typically Last in Children? 🤧👶

The duration of a cold in children can vary, but here's a general timeline:
🔸 First 2-3 Days: Sore throat, runny nose, and fatigue.
🔸 Next 3-4 Days: Symptoms like congestion, cough, and sneezing may worsen.
🔸 7-10 Days: Most children start to recover and feel better.

While colds usually last about a week, factors like your child’s age, health, and the virus involved can influence recovery time. Younger children may take longer, and some mild symptoms (like a lingering cough) can stick around for a bit after the cold is gone.

If your child’s symptoms worsen or don’t improve, don’t hesitate to consult a pediatrician.

What Causes Fevers, Cold & Flu? 🤧🌡️

Fevers, colds, and the flu are all signs your body is fighting off an infection. While they share some symptoms, each has a different cause.

🔸 Fevers are your body's defense mechanism. When your immune system detects an infection, it raises your temperature to make it harder for germs to thrive.
🔸 Colds are caused by rhinoviruses and are usually mild—think runny nose, sore throat, and cough.
🔸 Flu (Influenza) is more intense, with sudden symptoms like fever, chills, muscle aches, fatigue, and respiratory issues.

If you’re not feeling well, we’re here to help! Walk-ins are always welcome at PrimeHealth Urgent Care. Get the care you need when you need it! 💙

What Is the Difference between a UTI and Bladder Infection?

Bladder infections and urinary tract infections are inherently similar, which is why the two terms are often confused. However, there is a major distinction between the two that, once understood, helps to differentiate between the different types of infections. Urinary tract infections can occur anywhere in the urinary tract, including the kidneys, urethra, and ureters, as well as the bladder. Conversely, bladder infections are an infection of the bladder and do not affect any other part of the urinary tract. In simplest terms, bladder infections are urinary tract infections, but not all urinary tract infections are bladder infections.

Key Facts about Pink Eye

- Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, is one of the most common and treatable eye conditions.
- Most cases of pink eye are mild and get better on their own without treatment. Cold compresses and artificial tears can help relieve inflammation and dryness caused by pink eye.
- Pink eye caused by allergens or irritants is not contagious. However, it's possible to develop a secondary pink eye infection caused by a virus or bacteria, both of which are very contagious.
- Most hospitals are required by state law to put drops or ointment in a newborn's eyes to prevent pink eye.

Where Can I Go to Get Treated for a UTI?

There are numerous places that you can go to get treated for a urinary tract infection, such as a retail health clinic, a walk-in doctor's office, a primary care clinic, an urgent care clinic, or the emergency room. However, each option comes with its own set of pros and cons! For example, an emergency room can undoubtedly provide treatment for a UTI, but since it is not a life-threatening medical emergency, you are likely to spend a disproportionate amount of time in the waiting room before you can see a doctor. In many cases, your primary care physician (P*P) is the ideal person to visit for a UTI because of the familiarity you have with them, and with your medical history.
