Our residents love the new "red plate" program here at BBG to help celebrate their birthdays. In order to create an even more special day for our residents, they are served their meals on a red plate that says "you are special today." Barbara was the first one who got the "red plate" experience, and she said it was wonderful.

This week we had a "Food for Thought" program about the origins and health benefits of the kiwi! We also did some taste testing and cooled off with some "kiwi-inspired" fans which come in handy during the hot, humid weather we have here in Florida. It turns out the kiwi has at least 11 health benefits and according to our residents: tastes like a combination of pineapple, pear and apple.

Back by popular demand: pizza!!! Residents enjoyed a spontaneous pizza party with delicious pizza from our neighbors at Rico's Pizzeria. We also made cupcakes in the morning, so we would have a tasty treat to enjoy after the pizza.

We had our first live church service on Sunday in collaboration with Forward Community Church in Palmetto. We kicked off the service with a hymn sing, had a message by Pastor Shane, and finished up with prayer partnering and more singing! Forward Community Church is coming one Sunday per month at 2 p.m., and these are the dates for the rest of 2025: 9/21, 10/26, 11/16, and 12/21. Friends and family are welcome to join us.

Summertime often means going camping and roasting marshmallows over a fire, so we decided to make our own "s'mores" to snack on during our Wednesday Happy Hour. We started with graham crackers, topped them with fudge brownies, then added marshmallows and chocolate chips! All that was missing was the mosquitoes (just kidding!).

During the month of July, we focused on fostering friendships here at Brookdale Bradenton Gardens. This paper quilt is a collaboration of 16 residents coming together to each color a square, which collectively shows the beauty of friendships.
