In 2003, Congress passed the Medicare Modernization Act to pay for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. For the last 18 years, since 2003 Medicare has cut payments to doctors year over year. However, inflation has grown 2-3 percent year over year. We are at a crossroads where inflation is approximately 6-10% this year for medical practices. With inflation being 6-10%, Medicare wants to cut from 9%-20% from physicians again. So we are looking at 30% hit to our bottom lines after 18 years of payment cuts and inflation. What does this mean to you? Solo providers and small group providers will go out of business. Doctors will retire early. Doctors will return to their home countries. The remaining doctors will lose their will to hustle. They will lose the sense of urgency as we rapidly transition to socialized medicine. Year over year, Medicare patients will be transitioned from physicians to nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Please let Congress know that the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have stopped and to immediately stop the Medicare cuts.
