🌞 Labor Day Weekend Tips from APC Pediatrics!

Here are a few quick reminders to help keep your family safe, healthy, and happy:

☀️ Sun Protection is a Must!
Don’t forget to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every 2 hours—and even more often if swimming or sweating.

💧 Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Whether you’re at the beach, the park, or a backyard BBQ, make sure kids (and grown-ups!) drink plenty of water. Dehydration can sneak up fast in the summer heat.

🧢 Dress Smart
Lightweight, light-colored clothing, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses can help protect against sunburn and overheating.

🍔 Practice Food Safety
Keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and avoid leaving food out for more than 2 hours (1 hour if it's over 90°F!).

🚲 Play it Safe
Helmets on for biking, skating, or scootering, and always keep a close eye on little ones around water.

🚨 Know When to Call Us
If your child has a fever, rash, dehydration signs, or any concerns over the weekend, don’t hesitate to reach out or head to urgent care if needed.

BIG NEWS! 🗞️

We’re excited to welcome TWO incredible new doctors to our APC Pediatrics family – Dr. Alexa Magner and Dr. Shaun Armstrong! 💙

👩‍⚕️ Dr. Magner comes to us with top-notch training from Johns Hopkins/All Children’s Hospital. When she’s not caring for kids, you can find her fostering animals, traveling, or diving into a DIY project. (Also, ask her about her mom’s eggplant parm – DELICIOSO! )

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Armstrong joins us from The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University, NJ. He’s a lifelong baseball fan, loves family trips especially to Universal Studios, and says nothing beats his mom’s cooking. ⚾🍴

Join us in giving them a warm APC welcome. And to learn more about these two incredible doctors head over to https://www.apcpediatrics.com/about-us.

Back-to-school season is an exciting time for children and their families, and many have a tradition of posting photos on social media to celebrate the first day of school. Documenting these milestones in photos is a great way to watch your children grow throughout their school years, but we encourage you to pause before posting them and consider the following safety tips!

Consider sharing the photos directly with family and friends, but if you post them on your social media pages with the child's permission, ensure the photos can only be seen by trusted family and friends. Make sure your social media settings allow only those you want to see the post to see it. This will make it less likely that predators and unwanted strangers will see your child's photos.

Make sure you do not include any location identifiers in your images. Take the photos in front of a generic background that does NOT have your home, house number, street signs, vehicles, license plates, bus stop, or the child's school in the background.

Don't include too much personal information in the post and photo. Customizable boards are popular to use in "first day" photos, and can include the child's name, grade, age, school, teacher, and favorite activities. This info could be used to locate and lure your child if it falls into the wrong hands. We suggest keeping those photos and information private and only sharing them directly with trusted family and friends.

Not only can sharing personal information about your child and family put them at risk for child predators, but if you use any of the info you provide in passwords or security questions for your accounts, you are giving hackers/scammers clues. We know everyone is proud of our little ones, but please be cautious when sharing their images and information. Be safe and have a wonderful school year!
