Hello everyone!
We’re off to an incredible start ✨
January has been truly transformative and deeply aligned with our vision of wellness and holistic health for our students.
Our group healing session with Ken was deeply loved and left the studio feeling energetically lifted, grounded, and renewed. The free Ayurveda health and wellness workshop was also a big success, reminding us of the power of listening to the body early to prevent imbalances from becoming chronic.

And the month isn’t over yet. We still have exciting offerings ahead, including the Sunrise Yoga Challenge and an Advanced Restorative Workshop for students ready to deepen their healing journey.
Our Activate Your Inner Healer Retreat was another beautiful milestone—photos coming soon!
Thrive is more than a yoga studio. It’s a wellness hub. A space for healing on every level—mind, body, and spirit with amazing retreats, courses and workshops!
Sign up now for our Thrive Yoga Teacher Training Program starting next month (February- August) and step into your next chapter of transformation.

From the Kleshas series, this is the fourth and final video, where I begin to gently wind us down with the fifth klesha: Abhinivesha — the deep-rooted fear of death and our instinctive clinging to life.

All of us carry these kleshas.
These patterns are part of being human.

What creates freedom is Viveka (discernment) and Vittarka (the capacity to reason, reflect, and inquire inwardly)
These introspective skills are considered high-level yogic practices… and yet, every single one of us is capable of them.

Like anything else, it simply takes practice.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this small window into the kleshas. This series is just a snapshot of what could be shared, but my intention is always to make these teachings understandable, relatable, and lived—not just philosophical ideas.

If you have questions about the kleshas, you’re always welcome to reach out to me at erin@erincoach.com

I also teach a Yoga Teacher Training where we go much deeper into these teachings. I’m often told people resonate with the way I teach—through real-life examples, storytelling, and a sense that we’re all learning together, weaving the tapestry as one community.

Our next YTT begins in February.
If you’re local to Bradenton, wonderful. And if not, I’ve had students travel many hours—or even fly in—for modules. I’m deeply grateful and humbled by that trust.

There’s a reason for it.
I have a lot to share—and I say that with both humility and confidence.

If you feel called, you can explore the full YTT schedule at thriveyogafit.com.

Hello everyone! I am doing the Kleshas series where I reflect on an ancient teaching that continues to feel incredibly relevant in modern life: the Kleshas.

In yoga, the Kleshas are often translated as obstacles.

But I don’t experience them as something negative or wrong.
I experience them as human.
They are the quiet patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world — especially when we feel disconnected from ease or joy.

So far in my last 2 videos, We learned about two main Kleshas (the obstacles to living life fully):

1. Not knowing what we don’t yet know — ignorance (Avidya)

2. The egoic voice that swings between “I’m not enough” and “I have to prove myself” (Asmita)

Today, I’m here to talk about attachment (Raga) and aversion (Dvesha)

Raga is attachment to pleasure, people, or outcomes.
I experienced this recently in a small but revealing way. I misplaced a ring my sister gave me, and in an instant my nervous system reacted as if I had lost her, not an object.
That’s Raga. The mind attaches meaning so tightly that loss feels unbearable. Awareness didn’t magically bring the ring back — but it loosened the suffering. It reminded me that love doesn’t disappear when objects do.

Dvesha is avoidance — the ways we subtly move away from what might actually nourish us. Avoiding rest. Avoiding practice. Avoiding truth. Often without realizing we’re stealing from ourselves in the process. When we slow down enough to notice these patterns, something beautiful happens. We stop fighting them. We start understanding them.

Yoga, at its heart, is not about perfection. It’s about relationship — with the body, the breath, the mind, and the deeper intelligence moving through us. The practices exist not to bypass these patterns, but to meet them with clarity, compassion, and choice.
I go deeper and teach the yoga philosophies with practical tools and life stories in my Yoga Teacher Training.
The good news is we have the next one coming up this February- August.

“I’m sending you my wife, my kid, and I think I can get my brother to come too,”

Tom excitedly babbled as he stood up from his mat.

“Woah — you’re going to be walking different now, so take it easy,”

I said, handing him a glass of water.

Tom had been dealing with debilitating sciatica pain for almost 9 months.

After 3 private yoga sessions, it was completely gone.

“You know how much my deductible on that surgery would’ve been?” he asked.

“How come more people don’t know about this?”

I hear this often after someone has a big healing response —

from private yoga, body rolling, or bodywork.

We’re outnumbered by advertisements promising relief in a pill,

while a quiet list of side effects mumbles across the screen

and happy people frolic into the sun.

Many people don’t know — or don’t trust —

the body’s ability to heal itself.

And honestly, it makes sense.

We’ve been taught to outsource answers instead of listening inward.

That’s where yoga comes in.

Healing here is an intimate exchange:

body to brain, student to teacher, teacher back to student.

Yes, pain shifts — sciatica, low back pain, plantar fasciitis, digestion —

but something deeper happens too.

You sharpen intuition.

You learn to speak the language of sensation.

You remember how to trust yourself again.

As the Bhagavad Gita says:

Yoga is the journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self.

And once we remember our own strength,

we naturally invite others to remember theirs.

If you’re feeling stuck — physically, mentally, or emotionally —

private sessions may offer a new way forward.

Originally from NYC, Rafael followed a deep call to serve and explore the world—first through the military, then across the country as a cross-country truck driver. Along the way, life taught him what so many of us learn the hard way: a body and mind left unattended begin to speak.

A simple gift—Be Here Now—helped open the door to slowing down, listening inward, and choosing healing.
That choice led him to massage therapy, yoga, and eventually to Thrive.

Today, Raf brings joy, presence, and deep care to everything he teaches—from beach classes to everyday movement—guiding others in the way he once needed himself.

Happy Birthday, Rafael.
We’re so grateful you found your way here. 💛
With love,
The Thrive Community

In the last video of this Kleshas series, I shared about Avidya—ignorance, or what I also like to call innocence.

Avidya is not knowing what we don’t know.
And when we meet it with compassion, we can see that part of us as innocent—doing the best it can with the awareness it has.

At the same time, Avidya can limit our lives.
It can keep us stuck… and sometimes even cause us to be misled or taken advantage of in the real world.

That’s why yoga gives us practices—
meditation, the 8 limbs of yoga, ethical observances, physical practice, and breathwork—
not to judge ourselves, but to help us see more clearly.

Today, I want to talk about the second klesha: Asmita.

Asmita is the sense of “I-ness”—
when we confuse who we truly are with our thoughts, roles, stories, or patterns.

Instead of trying to get rid of Asmita, the practice is to create space around it.
To notice when a familiar pattern is arising…
to stay aware…
and to allow it to pass without letting it define us.

This is where freedom begins—not in force, but in awareness.
Stay with me as we continue exploring the kleshas, one layer at a time.

I go deeper and teach the yoga philosophies with practical tools and life stories in my Yoga Teacher Training. The good news is we have the next one coming up this February- August.
If you want to learn more checkout YTT schedule on my website thriveyogafit.com or reach out to me directly on erin@erincoach.com and I will get on a call with you.

Avidya is not knowing what you don’t know.
It’s the fog that clouds your inner world—when you’re disconnected from your truth.

When seen through compassion, Avidya isn’t a flaw.
It’s innocence.
The childlike part of you that is still learning how to see clearly.

We all carry the kleshas.
They don’t make us broken—they make us human.

And awareness?
Awareness is what sets us free.

This is deep yoga philosophy, and it’s the heart of what I teach in my Yoga Teacher Trainings. Not just poses—but presence, perception, and the path back to clarity.

If you’re ready to go deeper, I’d love to walk this journey with you.
✨ YTT begins this February and runs through August ✨
