The American Heart Association recommends that patients may need to wait 3 to 6 months after certain cardiovascular procedures or events before undergoing dental cleanings or dental procedures. If you have experienced any cardiovascular event or procedure within the past six months, such as placement of a stent, a heart attack, or placement of a pacemaker, please inform your dental provider. This allows them to obtain the appropriate cardiac clearance from your cardiologist, as protocols may vary between physicians 🫀

In honor of national orthodontic health month, it’s important to be educated on why expansion matters before Braces or Aligners ✨
Did you know that sometimes the first step before orthodontic treatment isn’t straightening teeth? it’s making room for them!
🌟 What is Expansion?
Expansion gently widens the upper jaw (palate) to create the space needed for teeth to move into their ideal positions. This can be done using expanders or other orthopedic appliances. This type of therapy is most ideal in children while they’re growing and developing.
💡 Why It’s Important:
1. Creates Space Naturally. Expansion can reduce or even eliminate the need for extractions by giving teeth the room they need.
2. Improves Airway & Breathing. A broader palate can help open the nasal passages, supporting better airflow and sleep.
3. Enhances Facial Balance. Proper jaw width contributes to a more harmonious facial structure.
4. Supports Long-Term Stability. When teeth are aligned over a well developed arch, your smile tends to stay straighter over time and it’s less likely you will need orthopedic again.
5. Sets the Foundation for Success – Braces or aligners work more efficiently when the arches are properly developed.
👩‍⚕️ The Takeaway:
Orthodontics isn’t just about straight teeth more importantly, it’s about creating healthy, functional, and beautiful smiles that last. Expansion sets the stage for that success!

Why Should Dental Offices Recognize Global Handwashing Day?
Observed annually on October 15th, Global Handwashing Day is a worldwide initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of proper hand hygiene in preventing illness and supporting overall health. In healthcare settings, like the dental office, effective handwashing is a key component in maintaining a clean, safe environment for both patients and staff. For dental practices, this day presents a valuable opportunity to highlight hygiene protocols, reinforce best practices, and educate patients on how handwashing contributes to better oral and general health.
