Dr. Ellis is a primary care sports medicine physician who joined OAK Orthopedics in 2003. Dr. Ellis received his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and his medical degree from the University Of Southern California School Of Medicine in Los Angeles. Dr. Ellis then completed his residency in Family Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, California. After four years of privat
e practice in Los Angeles, Dr. Ellis completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine / Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During his fellowship year he served as team physician for The University of Tulsa (NCAA Div. I), Northeastern State University (NCAA Div. II), the Tulsa Drillers (Colorado Rockies AA baseball team) and Booker T. Washington High School. While in private practice in Los Angeles he served as a team physician for California State University, Northridge (NCAA Div. As a undergraduate, Dr. Ellis worked as a student athletic trainer for San Diego State University, San Francisco State University, and the San Diego Chargers (NFL). Currently Dr. Ellis serves as Director of Sports Medicine and head team physician for Olivet Nazarene University and Kankakee Community College. He also serves as team physician for Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School. Dr. Ellis was selected as team physician for the United States Soccer U17 Men’s National Team in Madrid, Spain in February 2009, London, England in September 2009, and in Queretaro, Mexico in April of 2011. Dr. Ellis also acts as a consulting physician to the Chicago Bears at preseason training camp in Bourbonnais, IL. Dr. Ellis is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and also holds a certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in sports medicine. Dr. Ellis is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Ellis has trained comprehensively in the non surgical treatment of injuries to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, foot, and spine. He has presented clinical cases at multiple national sports medicine conferences. Dr. Ellis currently acts as an adjunct professor in the Department of Exercise and Sports Science at Olivet Nazarene University. He is also a member of the clinical teaching faculty (orthopedics and sports medicine) for Riverside Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program. A native of Pasadena, California, Dr. Ellis is an avid sports fan. Since moving to Illinois he has adopted the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and White Sox as his favorite professional teams. He is also a lifelong fanatical USC Trojan fan. Dr. Ellis has an active interest in community service and volunteerism. He has traveled to Dominican Republic twice where he lead a medical mission and worked on a construction crew. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife (Beckie) and their 3 children (Quinn, Jazzlin, and Justin). He also enjoys working out, playing golf and volleyball.
