Your doctors and healthcare providers aren’t perfect people.

I had an interaction with a patient today. That told me that I was the best chiropractor they’ve ever had. They tried three before me but they were useleseess, they said. I knew exactly what they needed and they just loved me! This post is actually not about that at all. It’s nice when somebody likes you and is getting good results but this patient went on to talk about how terrible the other providers were. Even called them names. I think it’s important to remember that every provider has something different to offer. Just because that person isn’t meeting your need doesn’t make them bad, it just means they’re not meeting your needs. Maybe they weren’t trained in orger things. Maybe they can’t do other things because their body is broken and limits what they can do . There could be all sorts of reasons so I think it’s really important that we extend GRACE to our providers because after all we are just people who went to school to learn something. We’re not gods and we don’t have all the answers. Most of the time the patients don’t even discuss things that aren’t working. They just expect you to read their mind and know everything!! Can you imagine…we’re not psychics. Talk to your healthcare providers. Don’t feel bad about telling them what they’re doing isn’t helping you because that’s actually really helpful for us. Instead, create a relationship with them. Tell us details. We want to know everything! Please, stop calling them “bad doctors” just because you didn’t like their style or recommendation. Talk to them about it! Most doctors I know work their butts off (myself included) and deserve better.
