"HAPPY 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY JULIE! Julie started when we had no idea what we were doing at reception. She came into a hectic front desk and organized it. In 2024, Julie was unofficially named our "Employee of the year" for the extra hours and extraordinary work she completed to resolve billing and clearinghouse issues during the Change Health Cyber Attack. She was relentless in completing paperwork to ensure we were paid. She also won an award for "The Most Time on Hold with a Health Insurance Company". Julie is the "Mom" of the clinic, taking care of the plants and providing healthy snacks to the employees who we are busy."

It's World Diabetes Day! Diabetes can cause damage to your eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart and is linked to some types of cancers. Here are some tips to help prevent diabetes health problems.
• Manage your ABC's. A1c glucose levels should be below 7. Blood pressure issues can lead to heart attack, stroke, and damage your kidneys. Cholesterol numbers can be affected by high glucose levels.
• Take small steps toward healthy habits such as eating healthier, being active, not smoking and getting enough sleep.
• Take your medicines on time. Even when you are feeling healthy, take your medication.
• Maintain a healthy weight.
• Your mental health should be a priority. Managing diabetes is not easy.
• Utilize a good health care team. It takes a team to manage diabetes. North Star Family Medicine can help you in deciding if you should talk with other professionals about your diabetes. Remember you are the most important member of your health care team and to ask for help when you need it. If you or a loved one are dealing with diabetes we can help. It's World Kindness Day! Did you know that being kind to others is good for your health? Here are some ways to start making kindness the norm in your daily life:
1. Send an uplifting text to a friend or family member.
2. Let that guy merge into traffic with a wave and a smile.
3. Include intentional moments of kindness, laughter and delight in your daily routine.
4. Go slightly outside of your comfort zone at least once a day to make someone smile.
5. Share a compliment with a co-worker or friend.
6. Reach out to a family member you haven't spoken to in awhile.
7. Treat someone to a cup of coffee (a friend, stranger, or even yourself).
