It's UV Safety month! This month was established to raise awareness of best practices for protecting your skin from too much sun exposure while enjoying the outdoors. Here are some tips for sun safety:

SUNSCREEN
Before going outside apply a broad-specturm sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 that's waterproof. Reapply every two hours , and after swimming or sweating. Don't forget areas that are easy to miss, like the tops of your feet, ears and part in your hair.

UV RAYS
Up to 80% of UV rays can reach your skin even on overcast days, so you should still wear sunscreen and protective clothing.

OTHER FACTORS
Effective sun protection involves more than just sunscreen. You should also consider other factors, such as avoiding "safe" tans from UV light, and knowing vitamin D doesn't have to come from the sun. Too much sun exposure can lead to skin caner, eye cancer and other dangerous conditions.

F - Face drooping? Can they smile?
A - Arm weakness? Can they hold their arms straight out in front of them, or does one of them fall?
S - Speech difficulties? Is their speech slurred or mixed up?
T - if you see any of these signs it’s time to call emergency services! Dial 911

If you notice any of these symptoms in someone (or yourself), don’t wait. Call 911 immediately.
