Hard work shaped Sally’s life from the very beginning.

Raised on a cattle farm in Minnesota, Sally learned early that showing up and putting in the work mattered. She left home at 16 to work in Michigan factories, later returning to Brainerd where she became the first female bartender in the Brainerd Lakes area. She saved every nickel, joined a women’s softball league that went to Nationals twice, and never lost her love for sports.

Family and education have always been close to Sally’s heart. She encouraged her children to dream big and gave back in a remarkable way, donating $600,000 toward school scholarships so others could do the same.

Stories like Sally’s are what make our communities extraordinary. She’s known for her big heart, strong values, and the way she treats staff like family, because to her, they are.

We are better because she’s here.
