Betula Chaga, Ltd.

Betula Chaga, Ltd. Betula Chaga is dedicated to the sustainable gathering and delicate processing of the Chaga conk. We have Chaga for sale in different usable forms.

Chaga is the sclerotium, the sterile conk of the fungus Inonotus obliquus. It is found in the northern latitudes almost exclusively on white birch trees, or Betula papyrifera, the namesake of our company. Inonotus obliquus is believed to have a symbiotic relationship with it's host tree, and it's easy to see why. As the conk erupts from wounds in the tree, it protects it's host from insects and disease. When properly removed from the tree, a new protective covering grows back, and the Chaga continues to grow. Chaga has been intensely studied in many countries in the past few decades, and more recently in the US. The thousands of research studies are mostly peer reviewed and done by hundreds of various Universities; government, private, and corporate entities and facilities. This mushroom "helper" is not a "miracle cure" from exotic lands, and it is not a panacea. It is a very evolved organism which shares common microbial pathogens with humans. Hence the great immunopotentiating and antimicrobial/viral/tumor compounds we can easily utilize. Some of these are:
amino acids, beta glucans, betulinic acid, calcium, chloride, copper, dietary fiber, enzymes, flavonoids, germanium, iron, lanosterol, manganese, magnesium, melanin, pantothenic acid, polyphenols, phosphorus, polysaccharides, potassium, saponins, selenium, sodium, sterols, trametenolic acid, tripeptides, triterpenes, triterpenoids, vannillic acid, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, Vitamin D2, Vitamin K and zinc. The "Big 5" of these are:
BETULINIC ACID - Chaga extracts betulinic acid from the birch trees they live on. Birch trees are the only source of Betulinic Acid, so it's important to buy or harvest Chaga from live, healthy birch trees. Betulinic Acid is a triterpene known to be a tumor and virus fighter, and is also an anti inflamatory, and antineoplastic- especially with melanoma cells. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2658785/
INOTODIOL - Another triterpene, Inotodiol is an amazing apoptosis agent, meaning it affects the natural programmed cell death which cancer lacks. POLYSACCHARIDES - aka "sugars that heal"
Being essentially long chains of sugars, polysaccharides are soluble in water. Hence, the immense benefit of Chaga tea. Polysaccharides are immune enhancers and adaptogens, meaning what is deficient in the immune system gets boosted, and what is overactive in the immune system gets settled down. Some of the more researched polysaccharides extracted from Chaga are Beta Glucans, which have been shown to ward off tumors, help the cardiovascular system, help with hormonal imbalances, immune deficiencies, and viral, bacterial, and parasitic diseases. POLYPHENOLS - are flavenoids that give fruits and veggies their tartness and bitterness, and also their healthy benefits. Polyphenols have been proved to be more potent antioxidants than Vitamin C, E, and carotenoids. The polyphenols present in Chaga have been shown to protect against free-radicals and premature aging. Chaga has the highest known antioxidant value of any known food. MELANIN - *currently gathering research*

A nod to medicinal mushrooms.

There is no such thing as a cancer cell that cannot be defeated by the human immune system. The difference between cancers that grow and those that don't are what we put in our bodies to prohibit their growth.

Anyone have experience with this use and benefit?

Relatively unused in the west, chaga is a potent immune enhancing agent that is highly popular in Russia and parts of Europe, and it enjoys a major body of science for its health benefits.

Every winter, David Koubek, a farmer from Bremen, would be leveled by bronchitis or pneumonia, rendering the 40-year-old useless for days. But last winter he started drinking copious amounts of chaga tea, and his chronic respiratory problems were “stopped in its tracks,” according to his wife, Jessi…

This is absolutely terrifying.

"This image may look like something dreamed up for a surreal horror movie, but it's a real horror for the tarantula in question. This unfortunate arachnid is infected with Cordyceps, a parasitic fungus that replaces its host's tissue with its own.

Cordyceps fungi invades its hosts (mainly arthropods), and its mycelium eventually replaces the host's tissue. Once the arthropod is dead, cylindrical or branching growths emerge from the creature's dead body. Some species also have mind-control capabilities, convincing the host to travel to a place where the fungus will find optimal growth conditions before the host dies."

While this strange-looking mushroom has been called a "tree cancer" since it will eventually kill its host tree, it has attracted interest for centuries in fighting human cancer and other diseases.
