Cray Physical Therapy, a provider of outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation, announced the opening of its newest location in Braintree, Cray Physical Therapy Center for Pelvic Health. The Center for Pelvic Health is located at 1681 Washington St., in the same building as Cray Physical Therapy, just directly across the hall. Dr. Shawn Cray, DPT, CSCS, founded Cray Physical Therapy in 2009 with his first location in Braintree, MA. Soon followed was his second location in Weymouth and his third location in Norwell. Shawn has always aimed to bring the highest quality of care possible to the South Shore. His philosophy centers around consistently putting patients’ needs first and working tirelessly to meet their goals. The Center for Pelvic Health is staffed with a highly experienced team and compassionate support staff dedicated to the comprehensive treatment of pelvic floor disorders. “We believe that the one-to-one personalized care that we provide each patient allows us to design a unique physical therapy plan specific to our patient’s needs,” says Cyndi Lucas, DPT, Clinical Director of the Center for Pelvic Health. “Our physical therapists understand how to assess and address certain pelvic dysfunctions that might make a patient feel embarrassed or vulnerable. They approach each patient with knowledge and compassion to help everyone feel calm and comfortable.”

“Why Do I Feel So Tight Down There?”

If you feel tension, pressure, or even difficulty starting a urine stream…
It might not be weakness.

Sometimes pelvic floor muscles are actually too tight, not too weak.

This can cause:
• Pelvic pain
• Tailbone pain
• Pain with sitting
• Pain with intimacy
• Constipation

And doing more Kegels can actually make it worse.

Pelvic physical therapy helps by:
✔️ Gently assessing muscle tension
✔️ Teaching relaxation and breathing strategies
✔️ Using hands-on techniques to reduce tightness
✔️ Retraining proper coordination

Many women feel relief simply from understanding what’s happening in their bodies.

If something feels tense or uncomfortable, your body may just need guidance — not more effort. 💛

“That Heavy Feeling Isn’t Nothing”

If you feel a heaviness or pressure in your pelvis at the end of the day…
Or like something just doesn’t feel quite right…

Please don’t ignore it.

Early support can make a meaningful difference.

Pelvic physical therapy can improve muscle support, reduce symptoms, and help you stay active without fear that things will worsen.

Most women tell us the biggest relief is simply being heard and understood.

You deserve to feel supported — literally and emotionally. 💛

🌿 Pain With Intimacy Shouldn’t Be Ignored.”
This is something many women don’t talk about.

If intimacy feels painful, tense, or uncomfortable, it can affect more than just your body; it can affect your confidence and relationships, too.

Pain is your body’s way of asking for attention. It is not something you should “push through.”

Pelvic physical therapy can gently address muscle tightness, scar tissue, and coordination issues in a respectful and private environment.

Most importantly, you are treated with dignity and care.

You are not alone in this — and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. 💛

“Postpartum Is More Than a Checkmark”

If you’ve had a baby and thought…
“Why don’t I feel like myself yet?”

You’re not alone.

Being “cleared” at six weeks simply means you’re medically stable. It doesn’t mean your core is strong again. It doesn’t mean your pelvic floor is functioning well. And it definitely doesn’t mean your body feels supported.

Many new moms quietly deal with:
• Core weakness or abdominal separation
• Pelvic pressure or heaviness
• Leaking when they move
• Pain returning to exercise
• A feeling of disconnect from their body

And they assume it’s just something they have to live with.

But here’s what we want you to know — your body isn’t failing you. It just needs guided recovery.

Pelvic physical therapy helps by:

✔️ Reconnecting you to your deep core muscles so they work together again
✔️ Assessing and treating abdominal separation (diastasis recti) properly
✔️ Restoring pelvic floor strength or relaxation — depending on what your body needs
✔️ Teaching you how to lift, carry, and move without increasing pressure
✔️ Helping you return to exercise safely and confidently

This isn’t about “bouncing back.”
It’s about healing correctly.

At Cray Physical Therapy, we spend one-on-one time listening, assessing, and building a plan that supports your goals — whether that’s running again, picking up your toddler without pain, or simply feeling strong in your own body.

You did something incredible.
Now let’s help your body feel supported again. 💛

❄️ Snow Day Alert! ❄️

Mother Nature has spoken… and she clearly doesn’t have a PT appointment today. 😅

Due to the snowstorm, Cray Physical Therapy will be CLOSED at all three of our locations (Braintree, Norwell, and Weymouth). Our team will be at home practicing safe shoveling techniques and perfecting squat form in the driveway. 💪

Your safety (and ours!) always comes first. If you have an appointment scheduled, our team will be reaching out to reschedule as soon as possible.

In the meantime:
✔️ Bend with your knees, not your back
✔️ Take breaks while shoveling
✔️ And maybe skip the heroic “one more pass.”

Stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon! ❄️

“If You Worry About Sneezing…”

If you brace yourself before you cough…
If you think twice before jumping or running…
If you plan your day around bathroom stops…

Please hear this gently: leaking is common, but you do not have to accept it as your new normal.

So many women quietly live with this, thinking it’s just part of aging or motherhood.

Pelvic physical therapy is compassionate, private care focused entirely on helping you feel confident again. Sometimes it’s about strengthening. Sometimes it’s about learning how to relax and coordinate the muscles properly.

Either way, there is help. You deserve to laugh freely without worry. 💛

“It’s Not Just Back Pain”

Are you dealing with low back pain that just won’t go away, even after stretching, massage, or chiropractic care?

It might not actually be your back.

Many women experience pelvic floor dysfunction that shows up as:
• Low back pain
• Hip discomfort
• Pain with sitting
• Tailbone pain

The pelvic floor muscles connect directly to your spine and hips. When they’re tight, weak, or not coordinating properly, they can refer pain to surrounding areas.

At Cray Physical Therapy’s Center for Pelvic Health in Braintree, our trained pelvic physical therapists look at the full picture, not just the spot that hurts.

If your pain keeps coming back, it may be time to look deeper.

Lower back pain rarely shows up out of nowhere. It builds slowly, stiffness in the morning, discomfort after sitting, that “tight” feeling you keep ignoring.

We hear this a lot: “I didn’t think it was serious… until it was.”

What does back pain feel like for you right now?

Let’s normalize this for a second 👀

Leaking when you laugh, sneeze, or exercise is common…
But it’s not something you have to “just live with.”

Be honest, has this ever happened to you?

Honest question 👇
Why do we wait until pain is really bad before getting help?

We see people every day who say, “I thought it would just go away.”
Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t.

What’s one ache or pain you’ve been ignoring lately?

What to Expect at Your First Pelvic Physical Therapy Visit

Your first visit is truly about you; your story, your concerns, and what feels most important to your body right now. 🤍

We begin by taking time to listen. You’ll talk with your therapist about your symptoms, your health history, and your goals, whether that’s feeling more comfortable, moving without fear, or simply understanding what’s been going on with your body. There is no rushing and no pressure to share more than you’re ready for.

Your therapist will explain everything beforehand and answer any questions along the way. Any assessment or treatment is done with your full consent, and you are always in control of the pace. Many first visits focus on education, gentle movement, breathing, posture, and helping you better understand how your body works.

Most importantly, this is a safe, respectful space. You will be met with compassion—not judgment—and your concerns will be taken seriously. Pelvic physical therapy is about partnering with you, supporting your comfort, and helping you feel more confident and informed every step of the way.

You don’t need to be “sure” that this is the answer to take the first step. Sometimes, feeling heard is where healing begins. 🌿
