Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeanie’s family and friends and our HCFR family.
It is with profound sadness that Hillsborough County Fire Rescue announces the passing of our beloved sister, Driver Engineer Jeannie Thomas.
For several years, Jeannie fought a courageous battle with cancer, facing it with remarkable strength, honesty, and faith. Even in the midst of her fight, she continued to put others first, encouraging those around her to care for their health, prioritize screenings, and cherish time with loved ones. She loved this department deeply and never stopped hoping to return to serve alongside her brothers and sisters.
D/E Thomas dedicated more than 26 years of service to HCFR, touching countless lives through her compassion and commitment both inside and beyond the firehouse. She was a mother, a wife, a veteran, a firefighter, and a paramedic whose legacy will continue to inspire.
Today, we mourn with her husband Captain Jason Thomas, her three children, and her family, while honoring a life defined by courage, service, and love. Please keep her family and all who loved her in your thoughts and prayers.
