Dr. Edward S Mortellaro Jr is a Tampa native, graduating from the inaugural class of Leto High School, 1967. He received a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from the University of South Florida in 1971 and a Master of Science in Biochemistry from Florida State University in 1974. At the University of Florida College of Dentistry he achieved his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1978, graduating with honors and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor fraternity. After completing his residency and receiving a Certificate in Periodontology from the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, Dr. Mortellaro returned to Tampa to practice. Since1981 he has practiced periodontics and oral implantology in Brandon.
Dr. Mortellaro has served as a member of the Florida State Board of Dental Examiners. He is a co-founder of the Hillsborough County Periodontal Cross Coverage Group and past president of the Hillsborough County Periodontal Association after which he became permanent treasurer and records officer. Currently, he is a clinical faculty member at the Graduate Resident Surgery Clinic in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Florida.
