What an AMAZING first time at Winthrop College Prep Academy in Riverview! 💜

We had the honor of teaching seizure first aid to 60+ dedicated teachers who are now better equipped to support students with confidence and care. Thank you Winthrop for welcoming us — it was truly an incredible experience bringing seizure first aid training to our community here in Hillsborough County.

1 in 26 are diagnosed with Epilepsy. Our trained staff provides counseling for persons living with epilepsy. We can initiate treatment plans and connect patients to help through direct medical services and supportive care – helpline, support groups, art therapy, camps, conferences, clinics, telementoring, and advocacy assistance. Counties coverered are Highlands, Hardee, Polk and Hillsborough.

It is estimated that over 224,000 people in Florida are living with active epilepsy. That's more than enough people to fill an entire football stadium!

Epilepsy is defined by having two or more unprovoked seizures, but its impact goes far beyond the seizure itself. Let's work to create a more informed and supportive community for all.

Our agency was founded in 1973 by a parent of a child with epilepsy. The parent formed a support group with other parents and, in 1974, advocated for persons with epilepsy to the Florida Legislature. As a result, a statute was passed stating the State of Florida must provide services to persons with epilepsy. These advocacy actions are still active today through ongoing volunteer board members and staff. We have developed long-term partnerships with local neurologists and clinics to serve our clients.
