Dr. Molly Markowitz, a pediatrician at our 150 Sargent Drive location, took part in a news conference advocating for a Permanent Child Tax Credit that aims to provide much-needed financial relief to Connecticut families.

Markowitz stressed that research has shown that tax credits are a powerful anti-poverty tool. In Connecticut, 23% of Black children and 27% of Hispanic children live in poverty, compared to 6% of White non-Hispanic children.

“Children who experience food insecurity, unstable housing, family violence and parental mental health issues are more likely to develop significant conditions such as obesity, asthma and educational difficulties, as well as emotional and behavioral challenges,” Markowitz said.
