I've been ruminating on the word subversive today. Like rebellious actions from youth still have a hint of attitude in the elder. When faced with a differing position from the mass, a powerfulness comes in moving against the grain, honing skills of authenticity and finding a voice. Choosing contentment in simplicity vs productivity of material wealth can be one.
Another right now could be the concept of loving your neighbor while holding differing positions. Politics, cultural practices, whether you mow your lawn or not.
Righteousness can feel so ' subversive' in the moment. Justified, fed up. But ultimately the next step of community, connection, understanding may be an even bigger act of subversion. Blowing up the hate into a billion pieces through love.
Maybe then we'd be able to see, or even hear each other with a generous spirit.
