I've been ruminating on the word subversive today. Like rebellious actions from youth still have a hint of attitude in the elder. When faced with a differing position from the mass, a powerfulness comes in moving against the grain, honing skills of authenticity and finding a voice. Choosing contentment in simplicity vs productivity of material wealth can be one.

Another right now could be the concept of loving your neighbor while holding differing positions. Politics, cultural practices, whether you mow your lawn or not.
Righteousness can feel so ' subversive' in the moment. Justified, fed up. But ultimately the next step of community, connection, understanding may be an even bigger act of subversion. Blowing up the hate into a billion pieces through love.
Maybe then we'd be able to see, or even hear each other with a generous spirit.

Letting go of the doers ego is an essential teaching of the Gita. Echoed in Buddhist teaching of attachment, that attachment and dukkha (suffering) goes hand in hand. When we are drawn to act on behalf of liberation our comfort level is challenged.

If we weave interconnection into this we begin to understand that that my sense of peace, happiness and safety extends beyond my own self. It extends miles and generations. Upholding truth, love, joy, non-harm is foundational in freedom… throughout the twists and turns of nature’s way of life. Suffering is inevitable, but as the four noble truths and Krishna in the Gita explains, “ the wisdom rests in knowing that seasons change, people change, day follows night.

This natural flow helps us become more resilient. Krishna‘s positive quotes remind us that whatever happened - is happening for good, whatever will happen will also happen for good. Our greatest strength comes from adapting to change. This allows us to grow and perservere through challenges, however uncomfortable or inconvienient, instead of being overwhelmed by them.

Some words + musings
Our practice can be an incredible vehicle to power our liberation. Reflective of course to the principles of yoga in relation to ourselves within and a part of the world. Hatha yoga sees ourselves within all being and all beings inside us.
How can our liberation be bound by our relationships within the world? How close is the person I am inside to whom others see? How do judgements dwell within my mind? How insistent am I with my reactive nature? How patient and trusting am I in meditative spaces where perpetual doing is not emphasized?
Learning to identify when our own mind is a detriment to our peace and learning skills to befriend and mend this inner chaos is practice. And a crucial step.
We are all so wildly different. And finding common ground to accept and move on is a skill. Practicing peace in the world imperative, reparative, necessary, and brave. Especially in these difficult times of division, violence and systemic collapse.
May we all grow towards and embody peace for all within a shared reality. May we listen, speak truth, and be of benefit in this world.

“The essence of all beings is Earth. The essence of the Earth is Water. The essence of Water is plants. The essence of plants is the human being.”
- Chandogya Upanishad

“ evolution is a manifestation of latent potentials. Within each thing is contained all things. In the seed is the tree, in the tree is the forest.” - Dr. Vasant Lad

There is within each of us a fundamental rhythm. An inner knowing, some would call this a conscience or intuition - when to pull back or when to move forward. During these winter months, when the dark skies and bare trees reflect a certain expansive mystery, a prompt to nourish the fire inside is an ancient one. Cultivating a sense of aliveness, vitality, or fire, directly helps combat the cold constriction of winter. When we distill this with a focused practice, this winter time can be one of great inner investigation - one we may have set in motion during the solstice time…

⭐️ what direction do I wish to go?
⭐️ what thoughts, words or actions will allow me, realistically, to grow as a human within this interdependent world

Currently in the midst of so much chaos happening in our country, there is something beautiful happening.
❤️
There is a group of Buddhist Monks walking for peace along with their dog Aloka from Fort Worth, TX to Washington DC.
❤️
The group’s stated mission is to raise awareness of peace, kindness and compassion as they travel through communities across the country.
❤️
They are not simply walking 2,700 miles for the sake of a walk, they are walking to bring peace into the world through lived example.
❤️
Their journey is about cultivating peace within themselves, through sacrifice and discipline and invite others to do the same.
❤️
As they walk through cold, wind, and physical hardship, they are showing us that peace is not comfortable. It is practiced.
❤️
They stop in towns, communities to share calm and compassion, reminding us that peace begins within ourselves and shines outward.
❤️
In walking they draw attention to division and unrest not to exploit it, but to heal it with presence.

Our Pranakriya 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training begins February 27-March 1, 2026!

We are so happy to welcome back and collaborate with the Pranakriya School for Yoga Healing Arts. Pranakriya's Yoga Alliance certified trainings are true to the ancient tradition Swami Kripalu lived and taught, and have been adapted by Yoganand Michael Carroll for western students living active lives in the world. With roots in the Ta**ra and Hatha yoga traditions, Pranakriya yoga focuses on developing awareness and aliveness through yoga.

Our in-depth program supports students looking to deepen their understanding, whether it be for a personal journey or with hopes of teaching. We will meet one weekend a month for 9 months - February - October at Raven's Wing Yoga.

Our Story

Yoga for everyone who wishes positive change of some kind. Raven’s Wing holds it’s initial intention to teach the deeper aspects of yoga beyond asanas (postures). Raising conscious awareness through practices of self discovery through body, mind, breath & consciousness.
