We had a great time visiting Meadowcreek Elementary and speaking with the 2nd and 4th grade students about the exciting world of prosthetics and orthotics!🦾
Thank you to Meadowcreek Elementary for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to share what we do and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ We loved seeing their curiosity and answering all of their great questions!
Who knows, we may have even met a few future prosthetists and orthotists in the room! 🦿

Have you ever wondered what the different type of leg braces like SMOs, AFOs, KAFOs, and HKAFOs actually do? 🤔💭
Lower extremity orthoses are braces designed to support and improve the function of the lower part of the body. The lower extremity includes the hips, legs, knees, ankles, and feet. 🦶🦵
Each of these devices provides a different level of support depending on a patient’s needs, helping improve stability, alignment, and mobility. Orthotic bracing can help patients move more safely, walk more efficiently, and stay active in their everyday lives! 🚶‍♂️

🔔 Goal Digger Spotlight! 🔔
Detric is a right transtibial amputee (below the knee) who also uses an AFO (ankle foot orthosis) on his left ankle and foot. His goal was to walk with his walker and he did it! 🎉🦿
We are so proud of the determination and hard work he put in to reach this milestone. 🎯 We’re grateful to be part of helping our patients move forward, regain independence, and keep reaching for their goals! It’s the best part of our job. 💙

The Amputee Peer Resource Group meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 6 PM at the Northeast Georgia Rehab Institute. This is a great opportunity to connect with others in the amputee community, share experiences, ask questions, and support one another.
This group is a welcoming space to learn, talk, and build community.

Astrid met her goal! 🔔
With her cranial remolding orthosis, she’s now rocking a beautiful head shape with a cephalic ratio under 90%, meaning her head is nicely balanced from side to side and in the healthy range! 🎉
Our clinician, Onny Mbagwu, LCPO, teamed up with to make sure Astrid got the results she needed. We’re so grateful for our amazing partnerships and referrals that allow us to give our patients the best care possible! 👏

Victoria, our lead LCPO, crafting a custom prosthetic foam cover 🦿
A prosthetic foam cover is the lightweight outer layer that goes over a prosthetic limb. While the internal components provide the function and structure, the foam cover is carefully shaped to create a natural contour, restore symmetry, protect the components inside, and help clothing fit more naturally!
