Change rocks everyone's boat, even those who initiate it. In my experience, often those in leadership positions can be out of touch with just how disruptive change is to others.

Mindfulness helps us be with discomfort and not use action to try to avoid it. When we cultivate mindfulness, it becomes not a tool in our change management toolbox, but the very WAY we shepherd change through.

Mindful leaders are more likely to have the ability to tune into the people needs related to the changes. They are more likely to design a process that is intentional and compassionate. And, they are more likely to go TOWARD the discomfort others feel because they, themselves, are prepared to handle it.

Does your organization offer caregiver leave policy?? This is a crucial way of supporting and retaining your employees who may be caring for elderly parents or children with special needs.

It’s important to consider who is included in differing state policies when writing your caregiver leave policy to ensure employees have equitable access to leave. We recommend broadening the recipients of care covered under your corporate policy to include grandparents, grandchildren, parents in law, siblings, and other close relationships.

While some individuals may possess certain natural qualities that make them more predisposed to becoming effective leaders or managers, leadership and management skills can certainly be learned and developed over time.

Through education, training, and experience, anyone can learn to become a great leader or manager. Leadership and management skills are a combination of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, which can be honed through practice and feedback.

Furthermore, effective leadership and management involve ongoing learning and adaptation to changing circumstances, so even those who are naturally talented still need to continue developing and refining their skills throughout their career.

Ultimately, while certain natural qualities may make some individuals more inclined towards leadership or management roles, anyone who is willing to invest the time and effort to develop the necessary skills can become a successful leader or manager.
