I have been reading Tarot cards for about 20 years. To me, Tarot is a language and a reading is a puzzle to figure out. A Tarot card reading can show you what patterns are beginning to form in your future to help you to make the best choices possible. Readings show a picture of the individual and the various options ahead of them in the future. It is a positive process of path working which clearly shows the past, present and future of any situation. I fully believe that getting your Tarot cards read can help you on your path and help you to evolve to your highest potential. It's a busy week, but I am available on Wednesday and Friday for readings- and you can still get gift certificates for the holidays! I highly recommend the New Year's reading at this time of the year which focuses on every month of 2026 in your life. This week's reading was done on the Joie de Vivre Tarot by Paulina Cassidy. This is my favorite Tarot deck for times that are dark and heavy. It is dark in more ways than one these days- my hope is that these bright cards shine a light. Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 12/15/25:

Hello to the friends of Iris X Readings! I hope you are all holding up in this busy season. December can be hard. Inwardly, we are pulled to quiet. It's dark and cold, and it makes most of us want to stay home and warm by the wood stove. It is a quiet and reflective time of the year. But- December doesn't know that. It is a busy month. We are pulled out into parties and social activities of all kinds. At the time of the year when our instincts would tell us to be quiet and reflect on the year passing in the darkest month- we are pulled into the light. For some- maybe that's a good thing. But I suspect that a lot of people feel tired and over done. And I can see it in this reading. I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will read this post. It's been a busy week over here, and it's finally my weekend (monday and tuesday!) I have a tendency to give people multiple Tarot deck options when I am at events. The Wayfarer Tarot (created by Margaret Shipman and me) is my Go-To Tarot deck. Every reader has one of those. The Tarot deck that communicates so easily and clearly that it doesn't matter if you are tired and distracted- it's just clear. This week's reading was done on a deck that is new to me, but quite old. The Minchiate Al Cigno was created in Bologna, Italy in 1775. With 97 cards instead of the traditional 78, there is a lot to learn in this deck even for an old reader like me! I love the traditional imagery and it's good to be challenged. Pending Readings and Sponsored Classes:

A few months ago, I put out a request for pending readings; readings that are paid in advance for someone who needs it. My friends came through and supported 15 people to get Tarot card readings as well as 12 people to sponsored classes. People were able to request a pending reading with no questions asked. I was told by people that the readings made their day and gave them hope. Others told me about how much better they felt after, or how they had clarity to know what to do next. But Every one of them told me that it made a big difference to be sponsored by someone that they didn't know. I wasn't public about it. I didn't announce who donated or who used a sponsored reading. It was quiet and impactful and helped some people make needed changes in their lives. I had someone say- 'you couldn't possibly have any idea how important this is to me right now.' We never know what is happening for people, and so- I never asked a question. I just gave the readings and classes away to those who needed it.

I am now down to my last sponsored reading, so I am putting this out again to my community. There are so many ways to help people right now. Please reach out in as many ways as you can. Iris X Reading of the Week/Week beginning on 11/3/25:

When I was new to Tarot, I had one deck that I used. It was a Universal Waite Tarot deck, and I used it for many years. It was gifted to me by my adopted big sister. 10 years later, I was with a friend at a shop in downtown Brattleboro- and I saw the Visconti Sforza Tarot. This is one of the oldest decks that you can get in print; from the mid 1400's. The Minor arcana is not illustrated in a way that can be read. The imagery is old, and often hard to understand the meaning of. But I have always had a fascination for finding the roots of Magic and divination and so.. I had to have it.

My friend and I both got the deck. It was not an easy Tarot deck to learn as my second ever deck. We both worked really hard at it, giving each other countless readings on the floor of a drop in center for youth. I am not sure if I have my friend's deck or mine at this point. They were both used so often and interchangeably. He died in 2008. I often hope that the last time we used these decks, his ended up in my possession. But I don't know. I have tried to find the deck he had. I have asked around, and even dug into the ground in places that I thought it may be. I have never found it. But, I have this deck- and it is quite close to my heart.

Every Tarot deck has a story- first, by the creator. And then, everyone who shuffles the deck adds to the story. I love old traditional imagery, but I see Tarot as a living tradition that continues to grow and change as it weaves our stories in. I shuffled the Visconti Sforza, and asked for a message for someone who will see this post. And to my old friend- I do hope you are still kicking around somewhere in the universe. I will always remember your laugh- deep and contagious. For everyone else, read on- see if these old cards have a message for you or someone that you know.
