Indiana Home-Based Vendor Handbook Released

In collaboration with Health First Indiana and Purdue University, the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) is pleased to announce the release of the Indiana Home-Based Vendor Handbook.

This comprehensive guide provides detailed information on the types of foods approved and not approved for sale by home-based vendors (HBVs), including the science behind these decisions. It also covers essential topics such as food packaging, pH levels, and approved recipes.

By combining academic research with state regulations, the handbook is designed to help vendors identify food products that can be safely prepared and sold under Indiana’s HBV laws.

For questions regarding product eligibility, please contact the Floyd County Health Department (FCHD) at (812) 948-4726 ext. 678. You can also reach the IDOH Retail Food Program at retailfoodprogram@health.in.gov.

For inquiries related to product formulation, food testing, or project support, contact Purdue’s Food Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing Institute (FEMI) at femi@purdue.edu.
