We’re closing out August with a big “lucky 13” anniversary shout-out to Britt! 🎉

After beginning with ISYS and joining CareerSmart in 2019, she now serves as our Accreditation Specialist & Advisor — ensuring our continuing education courses are pre-approved, reliable, and accepted across professions. ✅

Britt is also the muse of CareerSmart — always bringing fresh ideas, creative solutions, and a helping hand to the team. ✨

Here’s a peek into her world:

Q: What’s your all-time favorite concert you’ve been to? 🎶
A: One of my first dates with my husband was The Big Four concert (Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, and Megadeth) — definitely one for the books! But my all-time favorite was the Queens of the Stone Age Halloween show in 2014. My sister and I went as the Grady sisters from The Shining and ended up in the costume contest. We scored floor passes instead of nosebleeds — an unforgettable experience.

Q: If Ryder could talk for one day, what do you think he’d say? 🐾
A: “I’m hungry” and “I want to cuddle.” Repeatedly. (I’m currently giving him scritches as I answer this question…)

Q: What’s your favorite memory from growing up in Monett, Missouri? 🌻
A: Impromptu days at the creek — setting up a chair in the water and just kicking back with friends.

Q: What’s your go-to genre or favorite book you’ve read recently on your Kindle? 📚
A: My genre preferences are all over the place depending on whether I’m reading with my eyes or my ears! According to Goodreads, I’m usually in contemporary, historical fiction, mystery, romance, or horror. Right now, I’m listening to a historical fiction and reading a fantasy series.

Bonus fun fact: From her love of Hiland Dairy products (French Onion Dip is the best) to the time she was hit by lightning 🤯 … Britt always has an entertaining story to share!

Celebrating 4 Years with Patrick! 🎉 As our Supervisor of eLearning and Customer Support, Patrick helps make sure our learners have the best possible experience. Outside of work, he’s a master strategist of tabletop games and a big fan of family time, games, and Lakers basketball. 🏀

Here’s a little Q&A to get to know him better:

Q: What’s one hobby you’re most passionate about right now?
A: Right now I’m most passionate about collecting and playing Magic the Gathering cards! I even made custom cards recently for a couple friends.

Q: If you could live in any game world, which one would you pick?
A: The universe of No Man’s Sky would be fun, being able to explore and build in the universe and interact with aliens.

Q: What’s your current go-to reality TV guilty pleasure?
A: My wife and I are currently restarting Vanderpump Rules for the 7th or 8th time (highly recommended).

Q: If the Lakers did not exist, what would be your second favorite basketball team?
A: My second favorite basketball team would be one of the Lakers rivals, the San Antonio Spurs. With a close tie being the Seattle Supersonics (who don’t exist anymore, but my grandma and grandpa are from the Seattle area).

Q: When you’re not gaming, what’s your favorite way to spend time?
A: Hanging out with my wife and playing with our daughter Violet!

Q: What do you enjoy most about working in eLearning and customer support?
A: I love that eLearning provides a unique format to teach people, and that there are lots of creative decisions I get to make in that process. I love helping make the customer’s day by solving their immediate and possible future issues.

Q: What’s one project or accomplishment at CareerSmart that you’re especially proud of?
A: My promotion to become the Supervisor of the eLearning Design and Customer Support team!

Q: How would you describe your leadership style?
A: My leadership style is based on trusting the team member to work independently and giving them the tools and confidence to do so!

Q: What skills have you gained or strengthened during your four years here?
A: I’ve gained more organization skills, interview skills, and have strengthened my instructional design skills.

Q: What advice would you give someone just starting their career in eLearning or customer support?
A: Everyone in the company loves helping each other out when someone asks for it.

This week, we celebrated my 10-year anniversary at CareerSmart, and I wanted to share my Top 10 favorite things about working here:

Angie and Clinton were proud to represent CareerSmart Learning at this year’s annual conference in Washington, DC. From growing a few inches taller (see the photo for proof! 😉) to connecting with incredible professionals focused on absence, disability, and workforce well-being—it was a conference to remember.

👏 A big congrats to Misty Villanueva of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the lucky winner of our $500 gift card giveaway!

💜 We also loved getting out to explore DC and spotting one of Angie’s favorite charities in action—Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, D.C.
