This Black History Month we’d like to share this article from the DAV’s own magazine, written by Elizabeth DePompei, honoring the Harlem Hellfighters. The Harlem Hellfighters were an all African American regiment that fought longer than any other regiment of WW1 while facing racism and violence at home and within the ranks. “Under fire 191 days, they never lost a prisoner or a foot of ground”. - The New York Tribune.
