Canterbury Manor Independent Senior Community

Canterbury Manor Independent Senior Community Our senior residential community opened its doors August of ‘94 and has provided affordable housing and services for over 19 years.

Continuing with its objective to provide competitively-priced retirement communities throughout the Pacific Northwest, Episcopal Retirement Communities (Canterbury Manor’s owner/operator) set up an independent living community in Bremerton. No buy-ins and no dividends paid to investors or private owners mean affordability and that resources are reinvested in Canterbury Manor and its services. What's more, the independent senior community's set-aside program enables seniors to stay in the comfort of their own Canterbury apartment even after their money has run out.

It was a Beautiful Summer Day for a trip out to Vashon Island and a visit to another of Thomas Dambo’s trolls.

Oscar The Bird King

"He swam here from the island, where his momma once had birthed him. He walked across the mountains till his giant feet was hurting. He spoke a crow and little girl, the Orca he heard him sing. He used to be a little troll, now Oscar is The Bird King"

Oscar was the last troll made on the 100 day road trip tour titled Way of the Bird King. Oscar, himself is the main character of Thomas Dambo’s book titled after the project. The story is about his travels meeting the other trolls, on the same path he took across the United States on the cross-country adventure.

Canterbury Manor has been a place to call "home" for 31 wonderful years. As we look ahead to the next 31, we are committed to keeping our residents engaged and connected with the world around them.

Right now, we need your help. Our bus is reaching the end of its journey, and we’re raising funds to replace it with a new one that will ensure our residents can continue to enjoy outings, appointments, and social events outside our doors. 🚍💖

Our goal: $100,000.

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Your support will have a lasting impact, helping our residents maintain the independence and connection they cherish.

Canterbury recently celebrated their 31st anniversary. It was a great day. It started with West Sound Wildlife Shelter who brought out a Few Ambassador Birds to teach us a few things about them: Echo the Western Screech Owl, Oakley the Barred Owl, and Scout the Peregrine Falcon.
