Notice to Our Humana Patients
We are aware that you may have recently received a letter from Humana. Please know that Brenham Family Practice has not left the Humana network.
Previously, we participated with Humana through an indirect contract with Alliance/CommonSpirit. Alliance/CommonSpirit has chosen to end their contract with Humana effective September 30, 2025. Because of this, our indirect contract with Humana will also end at that time.
We want to reassure you that we are actively working with Humana to secure a direct contract. Our goal is to have this in place by October 1, 2025, so that your care with Brenham Family Practice will not be disrupted.
Your Options
1. Wait until September 30, 2025 to see if our direct contract with Humana is approved.
2. Return to Traditional Medicare and possible get a Medicare secondary plan
3. Choose a new Medicare Advantage plan.
Things to Know About Your Coverage
• With Humana, you are required to have a referral. The closest specialists and hospitals in-network are in the Cypress, Katy, or Houston area.
• All Medicare Advantage plans require referrals.
• With Traditional Medicare, you can see any provider you choose and schedule your own appointments without needing a referral.
