I’m a week into being 45 and decided (again) I need to get serious about my health. It’s only going to get harder from here. Perimenopause is in full swing and my days of yummy, flowing estrogen are limited. I’m on day 12 of my cycle so it’s the perfect time to get moving! I hate every minute of it (😆😅😭), but future me will be so glad I did it. So I’ll keep it up.

Three Tips For Each Phase of Life

Perimenopause

1. Prioritize Weight-Bearing Exercise 🏋️‍♀️ As hormones shift, our bone health becomes a top priority. Staying active with resistance or weight-bearing movement does more than just keep us physically strong; it provides a vital boost for our mood and helps us feel grounded and capable in our bodies.

2. Focus on Nutrient-Dense Fuel 🥗 Your body is navigating a lot right now. Support it with high-quality protein, plenty of calcium, and fiber. Think of it as giving your system the sturdy foundation it needs to maintain balance and steady energy throughout the day.

3. Find Your Calm 🧘‍♀️ Stress can often amplify symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings. Practicing intentional stress reduction like deep breathing or a quiet walk in nature can help soothe the nervous system and brings a sense of peace.

This transition is not something to navigate in silence or with frustration. It is an invitation to honor how far you’ve come and to listen more closely to what your body is asking for in this new chapter.

How are you honoring your body’s needs lately? Let’s share some wisdom in the comments. ✨

Three Simple Tips For Each Phase of Life -

The Postpartum Period

1. Honor the Rest ☁️ Your body has done something miraculous, and it needs time to heal properly. Rest isn’t “doing nothing”— you are recovering and learning your baby. When you have the chance to be still, take it.

2. Nourish from the Inside Out 🥣 Healing and breastfeeding require a lot of energy. Focus on balanced, nourishing meals rich in protein and healthy fats to help your body rebuild. And keep your water bottle close! Breastfeeding is thirsty work!

3. Lean Into Your Village 🤍 Motherhood was never meant to be a done alone. Emotional support is vital for your mental health. Whether it’s reaching out to a support group or simply asking a loved one to fold a load of laundry, remember that asking for help is a sign of strength. You deserve to be cared for, too.

You are navigating a beautiful, complex transformation. Be as kind to yourself as you are to your new little one.

Which of these do you need to hear most today? Let’s support each other in the comments. 👇

Three Simple Tips for Each Phase of Life - Pregnancy/Birth 🤰

1. Nourish and Hydrate 💧 In the first trimester, it’s often just about survival—eat what sounds good and what you can keep down. As you start to feel better, try to increase fresh, whole foods. And please, keep that water bottle close! The amount of water you drink directly impacts your amniotic fluid levels.

2. Take a Comprehensive Birth Class 📚 Don’t just “wing it.” A good class is the best way to learn about medical interventions and your options so you can make informed choices. It’s a vital communication tool to get you and your partner on the same page before the big day.

3. Prioritize Gentle Movement ✨ Whether it’s a walk, a swim, or a prenatal yoga class, staying active helps you stay connected to your changing body. Even just sitting on a birth ball instead of the couch can make a world of difference for your comfort.

Pregnancy is a miraculous transformation, but it can also be overwhelming. Listen to what your body is telling you, and remember: you already hold so much power within yourself.

Which of these are you focusing on this week? Let’s chat in the comments! 👇

Motherhood is full of complex emotions. They shift and move and build and linger. I didn’t expect to feel this photo. I certainly didn’t expect it to take my breath away. But there I was feeling the conflicting feelings of motherhood through one little moment in time that still vibrates through my bones.

My next newsletter will be sent out on Monday morning. Thoughts to Think - I Can Feel This Photo.

When I was pregnant with my first baby, my midwife told me to take a birth class. I had no idea any such thing existed, but I did as I was told! And boy am I glad I did. I remember using the tools I learned in class during that long, hard, powerful day. I remember moaning “relaaaaax” with every contraction. I remember telling my midwife how hard it was and how much it hurt. She rubbed my leg and said “I know, sweetheart.” Which in the moment did not seem helpful at all. Looking back, I’m so grateful for the gentle love, support, and preparation I had for my first birth experience. I want every woman to go into their birth feeling powerful, informed, and as ready as you can for the biggest, hardest work you’ll ever do.

My one-day express class will give you the basic tools you need for whatever kind of birth you are planning. I’d love to help you prepare for your amazing birth.
