It’s finally here… my Master’s Degree. 🎓✨
This has truly been a long time coming. I started at Humboldt State right out of high school, then life shifted and I took a break, had my beautiful daughter Taya, and went down paths I never expected. I always knew I wanted to be a nurse, but I doubted myself. I thought the work would be too hard, that I wasn’t smart enough, or capable of the long journey ahead.
So I started small.
General education.
Prereqs.
Applied to RN school and somehow got in on the first try!
RN school was the hardest thing I had ever done (Chabot alums IYKYK!) especially after being out of school for years. But I was determined, and I had a plan. Finishing felt like such a huge accomplishment… but something in me said to keep going.
So I did. I completed my BSN while pregnant with twins and graduating one week before they were born. A few years later, I started my Master’s, struggled through two classes, then got pregnant with my last baby and realized it wasn’t the right time. But the dream never left my heart.
Eventually I told myself, I need to do this, I can do this.
Even if it meant sacrificing time, juggling work, being a mom, team-mom duties, and everything else life threw at me.
This degree taught me more than academics, it taught me time management, prioritizing what matters, and most importantly, how to treat patients, students, and colleagues with respect, kindness, and appreciation.
And now… I’m finally done. 🎓💛
If I can do it, truly anyone can. Nursing is not for the faint of heart, but if it is in your heart, you can do it!
I hope my journey inspires my students and colleagues to keep going, to push for their goals, and to never stop dreaming, whatever that dream may be.
One step at a time.
I’m officially done with school… for now. 😉✨
