Jamie Phillips, MHA, President and System Chief Operating Officer of Seattle Children’s Hospital, has been named President of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She will join us on Jan. 1, 2026.

Phillips brings nearly 30 years of experience in health care administration to Monroe Carell, the past seven of which have been in a chief operating officer role. A mother of two adult children, she also brings to Nashville her husband, Greg, and her beloved French bulldog, Leo.

When Brittany Saunders welcomed her son, Bennett, three months early, she knew their medical journey would take time.

After 103 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Bennett had almost met every milestone. Thanks to the unit’s Bridge to Home program, he was able to leave the hospital sooner while continuing care at home.

This remote monitoring program supports families with virtual check-ins, a Bluetooth scale and personalized guidance from their medical team. Brittany and Bennett continued working on his feeding with confidence and care.

Today, Bennett weighs over 10 pounds and is taking most of his bottles at home. Families like theirs are showing just how impactful this kind of support can be.

We were so thrilled to welcome Hyundai Hope on Wheels to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt for a special celebration!

Kaille Meguiar, DO, MPH, an oncologist in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Monroe Carell, has been awarded a $100,000 Hyundai Hope on Wheels Impact Award to research the psychosocial and neurocognitive outcomes of survivors of pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers.

Representatives from Hyundai and local dealerships presented a check and an honorary lab coat to Meguiar, then patients dipped their hands in paint and put their handprints on a white Hyundai Palisade, with each handprint representing their personal stories of hope and courage.

Before heading back to the pitch, Nashville Soccer Club players Taylor Washington, Teal Bunbury and Eddi Tagseth brought game day to Seacrest Studios.

They joined our patients for a round of bingo, shared stories and helped create a few unforgettable moments. The joy on the kids’ faces said it all.

We’re so thankful to the Nashville Soccer Club players for taking time to visit. We’ll be cheering them on when they’re back home this Saturday.
