February is National Skin Cancer Prevention Month.

Here are a few tips to help keep your skin healthy and lower your skin cancer risk.

-Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Choose a sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB radiation.
-Reapply sunscreen every two hours when you are outside.
-Minimize sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
-Wear sun protective clothing.
-Use extra sun protection when near the water, at higher elevations or in tropical climates.
-Avoid tanning salons and sunbathing.
-Get regular skin checks from your dermatologist
-Do self-checks at home and watch for odd marks, sores, or moles
