The first official promotion of National Case Management Week began in 1999 and was celebrated on Oct 10, as that was the first official anniversary date of the association. In later years, CMSA settled on the second full week in October. The notion of a National Case Management Week celebration spread quickly. Currently, many health care organizations promote National Case Management Week during the same week but have the option to use their own celebration materials, or link out to the ones provided by CMSA. There are several other associations and allied organizations who support Case Management Week by sharing links and resources with their members on their website, newsletters, etc… to extend the awareness and visibility of case management industry-wide. Initially, National Case Management Week was simply promoted through local CMSA chapters. Since that time, promotions have extended to employers as well as the full membership. Nancy Skinner was the first chapter president to receive a state proclamation declaring National CM Week in Tennessee. Since then, many CMSA chapter leaders have taken the initiative to get 35-40 state and/or city proclamations each year. Over time, CMSA continued to grow and develop more tools, campaign, support materials, and promotional items. These resources are provided free for use by chapters, members, employers and other associations, as well as anyone else interested in recognizing case managers, or promoting the industry. The graphics can also be used to create personalized collateral, or added to customized collateral and tools. Countless recognitions, celebrations, and educational venues take place across the US through a variety of case management related companies and organizations, as well as the local chapter activities.
