Yes, it is true, my family got bit by COVID. It’s been quite a journey. I haven’t been in the office the entire month of January. We have followed all quarantine restrictions to the letter and I added more days to reassure my patients and staff. I will be back in the office this week on a ‘slightly’ limited schedule. It you have ANY questions or concerns, please call the office ( 925-516-8211 ) and I’m more than happy to talk with you! I’ve missed everyone sooooo much!❤️

My husband and I were discussing our sleeping arrangements earlier.

We talked about how it would be nice to be back in bed together just the two of us rather than the current moving around setup we have going on.

He said something that got me thinking though.

“I would never ask you to move Ophelia into her own room before EITHER of you are ready.”

We always hear about the child’s feelings, but seldom do we discuss the mothers.

It’s deemed selfish to want to keep a child close.
It’s deemed unfair on her husband and child.
She is deemed unable to work.
Unable to function.

According to society, as women we hold our responsibilities to all others.
And holding our babies gets in the way of our duties....

But I challenge that.

Every night as we settle down to sleep, she wraps my arms around her, ensuring she is completely protected.

She cuddles in tight and says “bye night. Love you.”

Then she messes around and tries to play, kicks me in the face a million times until she finally settles.

And I love it. It’s my favourite time of day.

I LOVE IT. And I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Is it selfish or unfair to want to enjoy this short window in time of her wanting to be close before she grows up and moves out, making a life of her own?

I love going to sleep next to her.
I love waking up next to her.
I love the fact that she’s close to me when she wakes during the night.
And I love that my arms offer her a safe place.

So I won’t move her, just yet.

She’s not ready.
AND NEITHER AM I.
