Harrison’s Bird Foods Awards $10,000 Grant to American Federation of Aviculture for Global Parrot Conservation Efforts
Effective January 2026
Nashville, TN — January 2026 — Harrison’s Bird Foods, a global leader in certified organic avian nutrition, has awarded a $10,000 grant to the American Federation of Aviculture (AFA) Conservation Committee to support critical field conservation projects during the 2026/2027 season. This marks the continuation of a successful partnership that has provided essential resources to biologists and conservationists working directly with endangered parrot populations across multiple continents.
The AFA’s conservation impact spans the Americas and beyond, supporting projects protecting numerous threatened and endangered species including Scarlet Macaws in southern Mexico, Yellow-naped Amazons in Guatemala, Great Green Macaws in Costa Rica, and critically endangered macaw species in South America.
“Harrison’s Bird Foods’ continued support allows us to fulfill our mission of assisting conservation organizations working in the field,” said Rick Jordan, AFA Conservation Committee Chair. “These grants may be small in dollar amount, but their impact is enormous. They provide the critical supplies and equipment that make the difference between a project succeeding or failing.”
The grant supports the diverse needs of field biologists working in often resource-limited conditions, providing solar power equipment for remote research stations, specialized climbing gear for nest monitoring, veterinary medicines, and other essential equipment that enables researchers to carry out their conservation missions.
“Supporting wild parrot conservation aligns perfectly with Harrison’s commitment to avian health and welfare,” said Dana O’Donoghue, CEO. “By supporting the AFA’s conservation work, we’re investing in the future of these magnificent species while strengthening the connection between aviculture and conservation.”
Harrison’s Bird Foods looks forward to the continued partnership with AFA and the meaningful conservation outcomes this grant will support.
