Pet Bird Safety Alert!
We get this question often: “Are cooking bags toxic to parrots?”
👉 Yes — they can be.
Many roasting bags, slow-cooker liners, and microwave “steam-in-bag” pouches contain coatings or plastics that can release fumes when heated. These fumes are generally safe for people but can be dangerous or even deadly to birds, who have extremely sensitive respiratory systems.
❌ Avoid using:
• Oven roasting bags
• Slow-cooker liners
• Microwave steam bags
• Air-fryer liners
• Anything labeled “non-stick” or “easy release”
✔️ Bird-safe alternatives:
Glass • Ceramic • Stainless Steel • Cast Iron • Unbleached parchment paper
Keeping your bird safe is easier than you think — just cook smart, ventilate well, and when in doubt, skip the plastics.
